With all this talk about fevers

Please tell me what thermometer you use? I really never get an accurate reading and am thinking I need to buy a really good one.

How are the ear ones? I saw a Braun one in BBB for about 60 bucks - wondering if that's good?

We got the digital ear one that was pricey... kinda weird that it gives a different temp each time so I take a few and average it out. I like it that it's fast and easy though

Ped only wanted to know rectal on DS when he was younger...even now I still use it since it's 6 seconds and he cooperates. I think the next step is under the mouth (I keep them separate but either way I have a new one waiting) but he needs to be older to cooperate.

Back up plan if he refuses the rectal is to just take it under the arm...with a different one of course.

we use the vicks rectal. no complaints here! I think it was like $10

I have an armory of thermometers

I have an ear one (which I use for Tyler), another one that can be used any way but use it under the arm for quick checks on Derek if he feels warm and a butt one.

Yup - that's what we use and I think it's great! Already got one lined up for #2!

I take his ear...always different though.

if there is a temp over 100...i go to rectal. its the only temp my ped will listen to

Ear ones are terrible IME. I would still use rectal.

I have this one too.

I will only use rectal till they are like 3 yrs old ...

I have a Temporal one and it is fairly accurate, when it is high, I always follow up with a rectal temp on the baby.

I have a temporal one and a rectal. I always use the temporal one first and if it is around 100 or higher follow up with the rectal.
