Re: Wish lists for the holidays? Yes or No

We made for DS because he has so many toys that he does not play with I wanted him to get stuff that he is into and will actually play with. I think it can help in the dilemma of getting a lot of unwanted presents.

I just let the Grandparents and my sister know what they want when/if they ask.

Since so many people ask me what to get too, I made an Amazon wishlist in my own account, and when I think of things for DD or she tells me she likes something, I add it to my own wishlist there…this happens throughout the year….so when MIL/my mom/etc ask me what to get her for her b-day, Christmas, etc (or when I want to get her something as a reward) I don’t have to wrack my brain to think of something—I just look at the wishlist. But I don’t send the actual list out….I’ll just go on there when they ask what to get her and give each person a few suggestions.

I do the same...but with toys r us. I dont have it made public...I just keep it or my own ideas during the year and can look at it when someone asks for a suggestion. I think its tacky to send someone the actual list. sorry

I maintain one on Amazon and I tell people about it only when they ask me.

(I asked to have the post made from the wrong account pulled. I have to check FMs there every day so I make mistakes.)

Me too. Otherwise, I just tell them to go down the pink aisle and buy something that looks like fun.

I think I'd like to utilize a list if I were shopping for someone else, but I'll probably never make one for us. I don't want my kids thinking they always get what THEY want. Chat Icon

Re: Wish lists for the holidays? Yes or No

I did it for DS's 1st Christmas because I knew sooo many people would be buying for him.

Now whenever someone asks me I just give them 1 specific item and don't tell anyone else.

I think it's great, but we are not big gift givers in our family(im the only one that goes crazy), so it wouldn't make sense for me to make one.

My family asks me what to get or tells me to pick something up and they will pay me back. A wishlist makes it so much easier. I find if you say DS really likes Toy Story, you are going to get things he already has.

Re: Wish lists for the holidays? Yes or No

Well I have a running list going for myself - if my parents, ILs or sister want to buy her something they can check it. But I don't tell other people about it.

Re: Wish lists for the holidays? Yes or No

I am making one. DD's birthday and Christmas are a month apart. I like to just point people to a website for suggestions. Everything I put on it is not set in stone, people get an idea though of the kinds of things she likes. It was very helpful for some last year. I also use it for DH, myself and "Santa", I see something or DD points something out and I forget what it was, now I just add it so I can remember.

Re: Wish lists for the holidays? Yes or No

I do it for both kids for their bdays/xmas. I add things thru out the year that I think they would like.
Our families love it and always say it makes their shopping so much easier. If friends ask, I tell them about it. It is just ideas, I dont have a problem at all if people have better ideas and get them something different. Whatever works! Chat Icon

Re: Wish lists for the holidays? Yes or No

Chat Icon I wish I would get a "what do they want" phone call.

my kids really don't have gift givers in their lives.
my mother sends money
my brother only gives books
my sister is a knitting nun
other sister married a batman fanatic, we always get batman things
others just do what they want, random.

i would love to have a need for a list-then i could decide if i like lists or not

I will be making one. Everyone asked for her birthday, and I felt funny telling them what to get. If they ask for xmas I will just tell me I put a few things on a wish list.

I love when people give me a list of things to buy. If you were to send it out without someone asking first it would be tacky, but I think it's perfectly acceptable to give a list to people who ask.

ditto. i did this for DS's 1st birthday and people were grateful. and anyone who didnt know about it was mad i didnt tell them.

I have an amazon list but it's more for me to keep track of what I think she would like. I know my mom and other close fam members will ask, but I would never send it out to anyone without them asking.

This is what I do too. I would never send it out or announce it to people but I know my mother and ILs would love to have the info and are going to ask me exactly what they should get her anyway.
