Will ped do anything for a month long cough in a 7 mo old?
This is my 1st so not sure if I should bring her to ped or not.... She had a bad cough and runny nose for a good 2 weeks...started to get better the 3rd week and now a month later it's just getting bad again. The runny nose doesn't concern me - it's the cough. It's worse at night and it sounds like she is almost choking. It's so much better during the day though so I feel like it's a drip causing it at night. Being it's been going on a while - do I bring her in? I called to ask and of course they said to just bring her in...but I hate to bring her there in winter and expose her to all those germs if they don't do anything for just a cough. I guess I'd feel better knowing it's not in her lungs or anything...at times it does sound like a wet cough. WWYD? TIA!

ITA also, with any cold DS starts with it usually turns into an ear infection. It may even be that. Better get her on an antibiotic so she'll be more comfortable

Re: Will ped do anything for a month long cough in a 7 mo old?
hi, i wants to write cause my son is 7 months old and going thru the same exact thing. it will be one month this thursday... i have brought him to the dr about 5 times though, they keep checking to make sure its not in his lungs, which it hasnt gone to. it is more of a wet cough tho, sounds very mucasy.. they keep saying it has to be viral but everytime i go to dr he sounds fine, it does happen at night but was happening during day just as much. the nose was running really bad and stuffed up. they put him on a nebulizer and since then his nose is fine and cough is every here and there.. so seems to be getting better but then i didnt do nebulizer for 2 days and i heard it again starting to get bad again. when im feeding him solids is when he sounds the worst its weird like he is breathing but you hear the mucas...im going back to dr this week again.. i think you should just go to make sure its not in his lungs :)

Great thanks....I am always trying to not be that paranoid new mommy...so I usually check here first! Glad I did. I will bring her in - the walk in hours are so convenient it's easy enough to just bring her in. Thanks again!

thanks for this...actually now that you mention it last night when I was giving her a veggie she was making a gagging face...I felt like she had mucus in her throat and she felt like she was choking on the food. I'm going to get dressed and bring her in...thanks ladies!
