Re: who wants to....

I am going to BF, However if it becomes to difficult or if my ds does not take to latching on well, and the experience becomes negative, then I refuse to continue to try and be upset when I only have a few short months to be with my baby 24/7 before i have to go back to work. I think it is much more important to have a positive bonding and happy experience than beat myself up over not being able to BF. I will try pumping either way for 3 - 4 months that way he will at least get my milk and immunity for a little while Chat Icon

Re: who wants to....

I never breastfed any of my kids. It wasn't for me. It's def a personal choice. I do commend women who commit to breastfeeding. Good luck!Chat Icon

FYI, BF doesn't usually go perfectly at the beginning... so bad sometimes that one can only think giving it up all together is the way to go. That happened to me, and I almost gave up after the 1st 3 weeks... but I stayed strong, and it got SOOOO much better & SOOOO much easier... and the bonding... aww!

I really want to. DH and I both had bad allergies as children, I'm hoping to BF and try to avoid that for my DC.

That is a good point, but since I only have 8-10 weeks, 3 weeks of unhappy BFing may not be something I am willing nor able to do... I applaude you for sticking it out, I know it can be hard...I just refuse to feel guilty if BFing does not work out for me Chat Icon

Re: who wants to....

My plan is to BF - saves money, lets me bond with my baby (with work and all I want some down time alone with the baby everyday), possible immunity benefits, etc.

Re: who wants to....

Im still on the fence but I am taking a class through the hospital to see if I can be swayed to do it. I have realistic expectations though. If I BF, I will also pump so DH can feed the baby as well.

same here... so many good benefits of breast milk. I was not breast fed and i seem to have such a weak immune system.. not sure if it has ANYTHING to do with it, but my brother and sister were both breast fed and never ever get sick..so who knows..

Re: who wants to....

i will try, but don't care if i can't do it. i'm not on the whole BF bandwagon and believe that a bottle fed baby is just as healthy as a BF baby. i was bottle fed and have no allergies nor illnesses.

i will give it a shot, because when else will you have the opportunity. but i won't make myself crazy and if it hurts too much, that will be it. if i do BF, i will also pump because i want DH to feed the baby...especially once at night!
