White flags flying from Brooklyn Bridge, cops probe breach
In a stunning security breach, the giant American flags at the top of both sides of the Brooklyn Bridge were replaced by white flags overnight, cops said.
The two new flags appear to be American flags that were painted over white — the traditional symbol for “surrender” — and were flying Tuesday morning from both towers.
The discovery was made sometime this morning.
Police are trying to figure out how someone was able to gain access to the bridge, which has patrol cars stationed on both sides and also has security cameras.
The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit will is replacing the white flags with American flags as they set up a crime scene, sources said.

Weird!? What does it mean? Surrender?? Aren't there cameras on the bridges. Obviously done at night. But this is so strange!?

This is very unsettling and I wonder was it a prank or a threat.
It's just scary that I can go through a red light and get a damn ticket from those red light cameras, but this goes unnoticed and no one knows how it happened. How the frig do you pull this off without being noticed. Where are the cameras, videos, hell didn't anyone notice!?!?! This is sad and just so scary to me.

IMHO it has to do with Israel and the Palestinians. That's why I think it was done.

IMHO it has to do with Israel and the Palestinians. That's why I think it was done.
ITA! I thought maybe it was a call for peace from Israel/Palestine or the entire Ukraine/Russia conflict.

I don't think its a prank.
I think its a call for Peace in Gaza...and maybe for the plane crash in the Ukraine.

What's scary is it's supposed to be one the most heavily secured landmarks in NY apparently our security isn't as good as we think.

Very scary!
Maybe someone has just given up and wants to surrender to whomever they think is in charge. Can't say I blame them most days after you read the news.

If they left the American flags and someone up a flag for another cause - gay pride, etc .. I would be shocked to the security breach .. But not creeped out
Something about them taking down the American flag and replacing it with a white flag is disturbing

According to the article, they are American flags painted over with white paint.
I find that more odd then just putting up a white flag.

Anytime the American flag is removed and replaced it unnerving
If it was peaceful it would have been placed near it with a clear message of peace
