Which stores are guilty of vanity sizing?
I know Anne Taylor Loft and NY & Co are on the list.... Who else?

Ann Taylor Loft is by far the worst. In almost every store, I am a 4. At ATL, I can wear a 0 or 2 - it is ridiculous.
I also agree with ON and NY&C although I do not shop at those stores often enough to know how bad they are.

Regular Ann Taylor too - I find mostly for the pants, I think the tops are probably ok with S-M-L

I disagree, I can wear all my normal sizes (M shirt, size 8 pants) at the Gap.
I'm a 6 at ON and NY and Co.
I think VS also uses vanity sizing but it really depends on the material.

All of them.  I was a 12/L - XL in high school and still have some pieces that fit me, but these days I'm an XS - M (2-6) in stores. Worst offenders: Talbots, BCBG, VS

This is the same for me!
If I order clothes online, I am at a loss. I have to go to stores and try on everything!!!!
But, I'm curious if I do any online shopping, where I could be safe buying my own size.

In my experience I have found only 'high end' designers are true to size. For me, I have found all of these do vanity sizing:
Ann Taylor/Loft
Banana
J Crew
Express
Gap
Victoria’s Secret
I am a 00 in all of these stores or an XXS (if they have them otherwise i'm a 0 & I have to have it tailored) but when I shop something more high end, like I bought an Alice & Olivia dress, it was a size 2. I believe I am a size 2 which makes the 00 three sizes off

I think pretty much all of them. I think the only ones who don't do vanity sizing are higher end designers. The stores I personally find that run big are:
Ann Taylor Loft
Gap - love that I am a 0 in their jeans but no where else!
Old Navy
NY & Co

IDK. I just think sizing is wacky all around. It's funny, bc generally speaking I can wear a size or 2 smaller at the Gap than at ON or NY & Co., the exact opposite of your experience.
I really can't go into any store and know for sure what size I am going to take, bc even at the same store it varies.

Express (I wear an XXS in their clothes!) in NY & Co I have a pair of jeans that are a 0.
Target's clothes are usually pretty true to size.

Seriously though...i always felt ann taylor loft ran pretty true to size in their pants, no?? I know their dresses run big. I have worn a 10 in their pants for forever but dresses are always an 8.
Their tops are big for the most part..i've even bought smalls and had them fit perfectly from there, and with a DD chest i most certainly do not wear a "small". Who knows!!

I guess it all depends. I feel like Gap, BR, and Express are pretty true to size for me - I wear a 4 at them and at the other stores I frequent (Target, Nordstrom, Macys, White House Black Market, etc).
Also - I can never internet shop. I need to see how it looks on me.

No I think Gap is guilty. I am way huge and I can fit in an XL with room to spare.

GAP sizing is just off in all kinds of ways. I never know what size I am there.
My size at ATL and NYCo are roomy but the smaller size is just a little too snug.
I think the cuts play a role too.
I have pants from all kind of places and some just fit bigger than others.
Just bought some Banana Republic pants. Haven't put them on yet. I will let you know.
