HATE THIS!! I bought 3 skirts from Ann Taylor, all 00 petite, they were all too big. REALLY?? I’m thin, but I’m not THAT thin. 00 petite??? Seriously, I am going to have to buy toddler clothes if the designers keep this up. They need to stop making everything bigger, I am the same weight I was 15 years ago and back then I was a 2 or a 4. I don’t care what NUMBER size I am, I just want to be able to buy clothes that fit.

I tried on a petite/ petite Ralph lauren dress the other day (I guess a petite xs)

it was freaking huge

I am tiny- a 2 in jeans- but come on

it did fit my boobs with room to spare- which are large for size

agreed! 00's in many brands like ann taylor and j crew are still slightly big on me. i'm small at 5'3" and 105 pounds, but 00's should be reserved for reaalllly petite people!

I just wish sizing was more standard. I go to one store and my regular size is too snug. I then go to another store and my regular size is falling off of me.

Yes it's so annoying. Banana Republic is all over the place with their sizing. I have pants from them in 3 different sizes and the smaller sized pants are the biggest ones Chat Icon .

People that can internet and catalog shop amaze me. I would be spending $500 a month in return shipping.

Re: vanity sizing

agree on the standard sizing

i like to fit into a small size..dont get me wrong... but its a reality check when i get used to that small size @ ann taylor - then end up 2-3 sizes larger in a different brand

As someone who generally has to buy the smallest size that stores sell, I think the reason petite people get annoyed about it is because if the smallest size a store carries doesn't fit, its frustrating because I personally feel like I am not abnormally small/skinny, though petite, and I would like to shop in regular stores without having to drag every single thing to the tailor. I am sure many people can relate to that.

Yeah, me at 6'1". Chat Icon They don't sell anything in B&M stores that are my length (pants or tops, sleeves on dresses, etc.)

Thank god for the internet! My neighbors tease me about the UPS/FedEx guy being at my house daily. Chat Icon

In regards to standardizing sizes, I'm with you all! It's another reason why I prefer the internet...because they often offer actual measurements.

That's how I am about shoes. My family doesn't understand ordering shoes online--but I HAVE to.

I do think that the rise of the internet has cut done on "specialty" sizes being available in stores.

It was still hard, but there used to be stores that carried wide width shoes, or stores that specialized in petie or tall sizes.

Re: vanity sizing

I hate this as well. There are some items I get from the kids section bc it's cheaper and fits better. It's also the reason I don't shop at certain stores with misses or petite sections bc the clothes are huge, I stick with juniors.

Re: vanity sizing

Because of this i never even go by size anymore. According to the store, cut, and style, I range from a size 0 to a size 12. So, I have let go of my ego when it comes to the number.

Mostly I'm a size 4/6 though... Whatever that means. Probably ten years ago I would be buying plus sized clothes! Chat Icon

Being a size 12, I feel your pain about shoes. I think the last time I shopped for shoes in an actual store was in jr high when I was an 11. Chat Icon The idea of going to a store to try on shoes is just a wet dream for me. Chat Icon

Oh and then there's my bra/boobie issue. I'm so jealous of girls who can try on and buy bras in a physical store.

But again, thank god for the internet!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Ugh...sorry girls!!!! I'm digressing from the topic with my pity party. Chat Icon

Re: vanity sizing

The annoying thing about it for me is that it gives me a false sense of thinness in my mind, like I think "oh cool I still fit into a size __ so I can eat!" then I end up gaining weight. It also makes me forget that I actually look a lot bigger than the size that I wear... Then I look in the mirror & reality hits & I think "If I'm a size __ why do I still look fat?"

ITA. I hate when i buy something really cute, only to be forced not to wear it for 1-2 weeks b/c I still need to go to the tailor to get it fitted. I am small, but not small enough where the smallest size should be too big on me. I have pants from banana that are old and still fit, they are a size 2P. But now, if I do not buy 00P the pants are huge. There is something really wrong with that.
