Where did you get your home downpayment from?
DH and I will be saving ourselves. I wondered about everyone else

We saved up about half of it and the other half was made up from gifts from our wedding.

Not sure which one we fall under so I voted other. DH was laid off after 7+ years and got his severence as a lump sum payment. We lived mostly off my salary and UE until he found a new job and used the balance of his severence as our down payment.

We saved and lived like poor people. If we had to take money for a house from any parents dh would rather live in a box. He would never ask/ accept.

My mom had passed away the year before we bought our house, so we used part of our savings and the rest we used my inheritance. It would have taken us a couple more years to save otherwise.

Whatever we got from our wedding went straight to the DP... so I guess you can say all of our guests helped us

Our situation is "other". I had a co-op that I sold and the sale provided us with a nice downpayment. DH didn't contribute to the purchase of our home but did for all the improvements. Plus, he's the best laborer money can't buy.
