When did your DD's ears get pierced?

Deciding between doing it now that she is a baby, or wait until she is older, like 8 or 9

7. I was unsure overall if I made the right choice. I will say that I am glad I waited. She choose to do it, begged to do it for years so I was glad to have her choose. But once we did, we had some problems with infections, etc. I would have hated to put her through that as a baby. Not that now is easy, but at least I can say "you wanted it". LOL

It was a long time ago don't remember her exact age.

mine were done when i was an infant, so have those of all the women in my family.

i would have done it as an infant if DS was a girl.

i believe the sooner the better because she won't remember it.

Right after her tetanus shot so around 3 months old. This is what almost everyone in our families has done. I do not regret doing it early on. She only cried while they did it and was over it by the time we left the peds office.

I had read that older little girls were cognizant of the earrings and would constantly touch them which resulted in infections.

I won't have DD's ear's pierced until she is old enough to decide she wants them and can basically manage to take care of them. So more like 8 or 9.

3.5 months for DD1, 5 months for DD2. We had to redo DD2 because she was hospitalized 2 weeks later and they had to be removed. We redid them at 13 months. Not a single regret.

My dd was a year. I think I should have done it earlier. It wasn't horrible, but I feel she would have cried less if she were younger. For a couple of days after I thought maybe I shouldn't have done it since she looked so different to me all of a sudden. LOL She is almost 5 now and loves that she has them, but has never let me change them if you could believe it.

Mine were done as an infant and so were my sisters

My first DD I also did as an infant and by age 5 I regretted it. Hated letting me change them and then one time her earring literally went through the hole causing a massive infection needing antibiotics and she still has scarring.

DD2 is 15 months old and I haven't pierced her ears and don't plan on it unless she really really wants it when shes older

I went back and forth with this, too. Ultimately, I decided to wait until she's older. She pulls on her ears a lot and I know even now as an adult I sometimes find it uncomfortable to sleep with them on so I thought it would be doubly uncomfortable for a baby.

I'm on the fence with my 11 month old. I want to get it over with but at the same time I'm not a fan of jewelry on babies.

We waited until she was old enough to ask to have it done. She is now 5 years old and had them done right before she started Kindergarten in September.

just about to turn 5. She did amazing. We went to a place that does both ears at the same time and she just said OUCH. She was old enough and excited enough that she never gave me a hard time about the cleanings.

Dd was 3 when she decided she wanted them. She climbed in the chair all by herself and barely cried. We had to redo them 2 months later because of adenoid and tonsil surgery and again she climbed in the chair with no complaints. She loves them.

Did it for one daughter at 5. The other is 4 an still doesn't want to do it. I will let her do it when she wants to do it.

Did DD's at 10mo. I love the look of them and don't regret it at all. The only downside is she doesn't understand when I need to turn them, tighten them or replace them. So DH has to hold her down so I can do it. It's like we're torturing her.

She just up and said "I want them now" so we walked over from one store to the Claire's and did it before she chickened out again!



I was DETERMINED to get it done at a tattoo place but frankly was just so glad to get it done already!

We wanted it to be her choice so we waited until she asked. She got them done a month after she turned 3.

I had dd ears pierced at four months old--the day after her pediatrician gave me the OK.
