DS is almost 19 months old and everytime I give him a crayon he puts it in his mouth so no crayons for him yet.

I tape paper to their high chair and they use the Tadoodles. They still try and bite them so I have to be there when they use them.

At home he started using them around 22 months, but when he was in daycareI know they used them sooner, not sure when though!
I say if you think they are ready go for it. DS would put them in his mouth instead of trying to color with them!

Around 15 months old. really started using them and loving them at 18-19 months old. She LOVES her easel at grams

At 16 months he stopped trying to put them in his mouth and realized they were to be used for drawing

I started both around 12 months. Sarah used to just hold onto them and cry when I took them away, so I tried again around 18 months.
Andy is 20 months and has been coloring for a while now. It's his favorite thing to do. He's actually pretty good at staying almost in the lines, it's so surprising.
Sarah (3 years old) still just scribbles all over the place on her page.

Somewhere around 18mo, DD realized that if she took DS's crayons, they can make pretty pictures all over the walls....

11 months we started, but they went into his mouth.
by 13 months, he knows strictly to color with them...chalk is a different story, I think he loves the taste.
