what's considered "crashing a wedding?"
Is it going to the reception uninvited?
Or
going to the church/temple/ceremony site uninvited?
Do you think you should ask before attending the church, for the sake of argument?

Re: what's considered "crashing a wedding?"
I say its crashing a reception, unless i don't like the person i would never be offended by someone coming to my church that didn't make the reception cut. Actually i had a bunch of people at my church that weren't formally invited bc i just had too many people. I say go!

Re: what's considered "crashing a wedding?"
If the bride, groom, or family would object to you attending, don't go to any of it. But there are many people who are ok with people going to a large church or temple even if they were not invited to the wedding. They will "open" the church to the community to see the wedding. But if the church or temple or mosque is a small intimate affair, no, don't go. Also, if you were not invited to the Ch or reception, don't go to that either.

I think it's either but crashing the reception is way more fun, I always dream of crashing cocktail hourss butdon't have the guts. You can crash the ceremony of you are on good terms with both bride and groom

Crashed a reception once bc the retirement party I was attending at the same venue was lame. It was a ton of fun. We even took pics with the bride!

Did you know the bride? I'd be pissed if that were me.

For the ceremony- someone that is intentionally not invited, but shows up anyway. I know church/temple is a public place, but if you attend the ceremony, know the bride and groom, and not invited, that is crashing. If you were a random person, not crashing.
For the reception- anyone that was uninvited.

Crashing is attending the reception - anyone can attend the church. I had a lot of people attend the church for my wedding that weren't invited (a friend's mom, friends of my aunt, friends of my mom).

Crashing is attending the reception. Church is a public place, you can't stop anybody, even a perfect stranger, from attending your ceremony in a Church. Not sure about Temples, but I think it would be the same?

Re: what's considered "crashing a wedding?"
I had people who were not invited attend my mass and I was so touched that they did so and actually made me feel bad they werent invited, they were friends of my mom/from the neighborhood, people I know but am not close with. If it was an on site ceremony I think it is different as the venue might not have the space but I am not sure.

We had wedding crashers but we knew them (DH's colleagues). They came after the food was served and convinced the bouncer they were just REALLY late.

I have gone to the ceremony uninvited. I would never go to the reception uninvited. IMO going to the reception uninvited is crashing.
