Oh, I forgot to mention that I work in a lab and we will be without our eyewash station and emergency shower.
Not that I ever use them, but this is also against OSHA's regulations.

how long is this supposed to last?

i think i would hold it for as long as i could then go out for lunch

The port-a-potties are not really the problem here. It is the unsanitary washing that really grosses me out.
It will last 3 days.

depending on what it is for...
but i don't think it is nec a Osha violation...

my job has had to do it twice ..

ETA...are you sure it is a violation?
I mean how would things get fixed?

I am looking at OSHAs website right now. It is definitely a violation. I see it on their website under Sanitation.

NO, it doesn't say anything about water being turned off.

Re: What would you do if....

A friend of mine had construction going on at her lab. They did provide port of pottys but they still were able to walk to other parts of the campus if they did not want to use them and the hand washing buckets is just disgusting.
Go get em!!!

Re: What would you do if....

Definitely do something Julie. If they can't keep you safe at work (no eye-washing stations?? in a lab??) then they need to close while the construction is going on.

Re: What would you do if....

That's gross. Definitely call. There are definitely OSHA violations there ( I had to sit through a 3 hour OSHA training for my internship, even though I don't even work in the same building as the labs!)

I'm pretty sure it's illegal for your company to retaliate against you for filing an OSHA complaint. Sorry you have to deal with those conditions. Chat Icon
