Re: what projects are you working on?

we just re-did our bedroom. Currently, I'm distracted by assembling our wedding album, and the parent albums....

Also, we're either trying to buy a place, or moving into a larger apartment..... haven't decided which....

Re: what projects are you working on?

Retile kitchen backsplash. We ripped it out and just sheetrocked....waiting to get the tile now.

May be putting in somethng new, a ready made tile display/backsplash for over the stove. I am waiting for it to arrive in the mail and see if I like it. If I do, I have to pick out backsplash tile for under my cabinets.

Same here. Most of what we do is to improve for a resale. And to enjoy until we leave (probably within 1.5-3 yrs from now).

Where do you plan to go? Same neighborhood or another?

Re: what projects are you working on?

We are doing my 'office/library' right now. It is small.. but cozy. We painted it a deep reddish brown. My husband built bookshelves flanking our window and put a shelf over the window to tie the wall together. He painted them in the same color as the rest of the trim (crisp linen .. kind of off white.) We bought a super comfy leather rocker/recliner to go between the shelves in front of the window.
NOW..

I need to buy a small white or antique white table for next to the chair and a lamp that goes with the decor. The room has brushed nickle accents on the ceiling fan and the switchplate so I want something that kind of stays in that theme. I don't want to go with too much contrast in this space because it is my relaxation spot.

Husband is now building a television stand for the tv that he will paint in the same color as the trim. Then he will move on to building me a desk and painting it the same color.

When he is done with the furniture, I will start decorating with pictures and whatnot!

Then it's on to re-doing the playroom...Chat Icon

Re: what projects are you working on?

Our general contractor is finally done and we are continuing with our work on the house.

Done:
- painted bedrooms, halls, staircase, dining room
- had staircase replaced
- installed front storm door
- replaced threshold at front door
- installed some lighting
- prefinished floors installed in new addition (Brazilian cherry)
- finally hung (very heavy) mirror in master bath
- installed some interior doors

To do:
- they are here today ripping up old hardwood floors and installing new, and repairing another area
- sand, stain and poly all hardwood floors and stairs (color to match the Brazilian cherry)
- install storm door on kitchen door
- paint kitchen
- moldings around all windows and doors and install base moldings (have to buy them first)
- have railings installed on both staircases
- buy and install blinds / window coverings
- get closet system and install in walk-in closet in master bedroom
- install the rest of the interior doors
- paint interior doors
- finish installing lighting

Can you tell I have to spend all my free time working on the house? Chat Icon I'm hoping to be done by the holidays. The outside of the house will have to wait.

Yep, the things we are working on are so we can get the house on the market.... We have so many things to do it seems like it will never happen.... Especially when DH "wants" (but doesn't need to!) to do it all himself, but he works nearly 7 days a week! Chat Icon

We are casually keeping our eyes open in the same area, as well as the surrounding areas (Syosset, CSH, LH).

I wish we could put the house on the market tomorrow, but like I posted above, we need to finish a lot of projects in order to get it in sell-able shape!!

I wouldn't mind moving a little east (no further than say EN), but DH said NO! He commutes to Bayside and doesn't want a longer commute Chat Icon Chat Icon But yes, I always say he needs a handyman buddy so maybe they can get his but in gear to finish off the many things he's started!! Chat Icon

We're not as far as EN (it's 10+ minutes east), but if you're considering CSH & LH, well then forget my neighborhood. Chat Icon
