What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
And what are the differences between systems. I don't really know the differences or how to tell them apart.
Thanks
ETA...What is hot water heat???

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
We have electric heat...our home was built in 1981.
Electric heat IS THE WORST. Take it from me, it cost us approx. $700 per MONTH last winter to heat my house, and that was keeping it at 65 degrees and wearing sweatshirts.
We just bought a wood pellet stove that should *almost* heat our entire house for pennies compared to last year's bills.

We had oil, our burner was on it's last legs so over the summer we decided to convert to natural gas. We have baseboard heaters

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
We have natural gas and forced air system. The only problem I have with that is that one of our bedrooms, the last on the line, is a little chilly. But if we close vents in the rooms we don't use, it helps. We just got a new furnace last year when we had our AC installed and it works great!

We have oil and forced air heat...the good thing is that the house heats up instantly...the bad is the dry heat.

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
We have oil (which I HATE..it's so dirty) and forced hot air (which I also hate). It is very dry, like Gerty said, and I used to get nosebleeds from the dryness in the air. My FIL installed a humidifier on the forced hot air system to make it more comfortable in the house. It really makes a difference.

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
How would you know if you have forced air? You would have vents? What about a radiator? That wouldn't be forced air?
So confused

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
We have oil heat & I happened to like it. I grew up with it & never really had a problem. Our burner will need to be replaced after this season but all in all it works nice. We keep the house relatively cool but still go through a TON of oil.
I find that electric or even gas heat is very dry & I get nosebleeds all the time from it.

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
We have gas and hot water heat. The gas furnace heats the water, and the hot water runs through the house to the baseboard radiators. The radiators are what actually heat the house. It's not "forced", since there isn't anything pushing the air. The hot air rises naturally, and pulls cold air across the heater. Forced air has vents in the wall/ceiling/floor (depending on installation).

We have gas and forced hot air. We haven't really had the opportunity to use it much yet but, plan on getting a humidifier for at least our bedroom.

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
We have oil and steam heat. It really makes the house toasty.
Radiators downstairs and baseboards upstairs.

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
Oil heat with radiators. We were told it is a ventura system (can't find much on it though). It is toasty even if the radiators can be a bit of an eyesore.

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
We just switched this summer from oil/forced hot air to gas/baseboard heating. I grew up with oil and didn't mind it, but we needed a new system and gas seemed like the better way to go.

we have a forced air system. The only problem we have is in our bedroom, since we have a cathedral ceiling, it tends to be a bit chilly. Other than that is works great.

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
we have oil. it's okay. it's loud but not stinky--they told me if i smell it, something needs to be adjusted. the radiators "gurgle" which annoys me, but it's better than forced air. forced air is very dry and can exacerbate allergies/etc. it can make you sick.

Re: What kind of heating system do you have in your house?
We have forst hot air. They say it's cheaper but personally I don't like it but it came with the house and dh is not about to change the heating system any time soon. I feel you have to have it up high for the house to really feel warm but then it gets too hot. I can't win with this heat maybe I'll get it right this yr.
