Thomas-I wanted it for a first name but everyone in DH's family is Thomas, and so is my Dad...

Luka Ivan...
Came up with Luka from ER (Dr. Kovac ) but DH's great grandfather's nick name was also Luka. Ivan is my dad's name.

We decided in Cabo San Lucas that we wanted to start a family in a year. We got pregnant in St. Lucia and while we joked that it seemed like such a coincidence...it was kinda cool and stuck with us.
Plus I love that it translates into the Italian 'Luca'
Matteo because I absolutely love the name but at the time we didn't want it for a first...now I regret that because I would absolutely have loved that name maybe for the next boy.

I love his name..it is pretty traditional, but there aren't that many Johns right now so maybe he'll stand out, EVEN with a common name lol!
John is my DH. James we just loved. I think the name sounds strong.

Nikolas Anthony (Niko for short )
Nikolas because I always loved the name.. did the spelling with a "K" because DH preferred it and since he is Greek, it fits better with our last name..
Anthony is for DH's late grandfather (though it also happens to be my DH's name)

Oldest son has the first name Robert after his dad. His middle names are My dad's first and last name (my maiden name).
My younger son's first name is Noah - because I loved the name. His Middle names are Richard (DH's dad) and my maiden name.
The nickname for Richard is D ick and we call my son No. So yeah - he's No D ick XX. His last name makes it even worse if that's possible! Didn't think about the nicknames before we named him!

David Shawn
Shawn is my name, so I've "juniored" him without all the problems with having two Shawns in the house.
David = Everyone knows how to spell it and pronounce it, but not everyone has it. It's hard for middle school kids to do much to the name to make fun of it. Dave, which is fine, but if any boy calls him "Davey", the other boy is the one that sounds silly, not DS.
It's been around for several thousand years, so it's definitely not trendy. His initials don't make up another word. Nobody in either one of our families has that name.
(Can you tell we spent a lot of time coming up with his name...  )

Nathaniel Alexander - We both loved the name Alexander, but didn't choose it as a first name bc DH's niece's name is Alexis. So we settled with Nathaniel which means Gift of God. Alexander means Defender of mankind.
Jayden Xavier - DH wanted Xavier as a first name, but I didn't like it. So after 4 days of not having a first name we agreed on Jayden.
