What is everyone's work dresscode?
I been working in a business casual environment but I have been looking around lately andhave come across alot of "business professional" so I wanted to see what the majority wears to work. TIA

whatever we want really
if a client is coming in- we put heels on- but it's typically something like this:
jeans, blazer, shirt, heels.

a uniform - khaki pants and a polo shirt..... similar to the blockbuster attire 
eta: oh, and Friday is "dress up" non-uniform day. We can wear whatever we want except jeans. (skirts/slacks/business casual)

We're dressed down casual (jeans) when our boss is not in town - and business casual when he is in NY.
Our company policy is that jeans are ok unless you're seeing a client.

Business attire...only if it's a Friday before a long weekend (like Memorial Day or Labor Day) can we wear jeans, or if it snows... it's kind of a weird schedule but hey, it works for me

I don't know what you'd call my dress code. Usually it's slacks, a sweater, polo shirts, button downs. Not necessarily heels, but loafers at least.
No jeans and sneakers except on friday.

i go the biz caz way which here is just slacks, a sweater or button down and boots/heels.

ok one more question and please do not think I am crazy its just like I said before I would switch jobs I need to think about things. Corporate dress, do you think it affects the atmosphere, work conditions, etc? I work on LI so I know this business casual thing may be more common on the island then in NYC.

Pretty much always worked in business suits in all my jobs. But I prefer business casual or everyday casual. At my current job, I do have business casual Fridays and I love them! In my old job, if I were at the client we got to dress like the client so I would go to the client as much as possible so I could be business casual or everyday casual (depending on the client). I just despise blazers, panty hose, etc - everything that comes along with suits. Also, I would like to be able to waer more trendy, stlylish clothes and shoes. Also, I have a hard time finding pants suits in my size that fit me in length so I mostly wear skirt suits - yuck.
As for your other question - it depends on the company and the person if it affects professionalism. People here are required to wear suits but I do not feel they are more professional by any means. I do think with some of the peopel who work here if we didn't have them wear suits everyday - we would have issues with dress and appropriateness. I have been in plenty environments where people are business casual and the environment is very professional. I personally feel more productive when I am business casual.

When I worked for the newspaper we were fairly casual everyday (you could get away with jeans if you had a nice top and no sneakers) but now as a dance teacher, I wear yoga/fitted sweats and tank tops everyday. It's great!

Business casual here too.
When I was an Admin Assistant, I was more Business Professional because I used to do a lot of meet & greeting of the clients.

I use to wear suits all the time, heels, hair done, nails done, NOW....anything almost goes. I wear a skirt everyday w/ boots and some days I have full makeup or partial --the outfits that come in here just amaze me! I'd like to spruce it up a bit for 2006 though.
