Re: What do you think is the ideal age b/w siblings?
For us it is 3-3.5 years.
We wanted more time as a family of 3 and now that DS is 27 months I am so ready to have another one becuase he is so independent and caring and I feel like he will more understand welcoming a new child instead of being jealous.
Age gap means nothing IMO when it comes to sibling relationships.
My brothers are 3 years apart, they have NEVER been close. They are just complete opposites. They get along and care for each other, but neither would ever say the other is his best friend. Meanwhile, my brothers are 12 and 9 years older than me (can we say OOPS ) Growing up I was especially close to my oldest brother even though he was graduating HS when I was 5! Now as an adult my middle brother who is 9 years older is one of my best friends, I was even MOH in his wedding. We talk all the time and bounce problems, questions off each other constantly. But we are much more similar in personality.

Re: What do you think is the ideal age b/w siblings?
I always wanted to have kids close in age and be done, I like that they will all be going through the same stages at the same times (somewhat) and have a lot in common. My sons will be 18 months when their little brother arrives and I can't wait to see them all interact as they grow.

Re: What do you think is the ideal age b/w siblings?
My DD and DS will also be 18 months apart.
Quite frankly, that scares the living sh** out of me. I have had no exposure in my family to kids that close in age...heck, my sister and I are 10 years apart
I know that they will be close while growing up...I just pray for our sanity for the next few years . DH and I assumed that we'd wait for DD's 3rd birthday, and then go back to my RE and start TTC #2. This baby had other plans

My sister and I were 2 under 2 (13 months) and have always been ridiculously close.
My DDs were also 2 under 2 (17 months) and I absolutley LOVE having them so close. I liked that we got to experience everything close together. Having 2 in diapers really wasn't such an issue. And they are so flipping CUTE together when they play that my heart melts all the time. So much so that we had wanted to have 3 under 3.
Third baby will be born about 1 month after DD#1's 3rd birthday.
It's a crazy, busy life, but we wouldn't change it for the world.....
What she said! I have 3 under 3 and it's work but lots of fun too and I love it!

All of my kids are close in age. I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. My Older DDs are the best of friends, and they are always hanging out with each other. My sons are partners in crime and always doing bad bad things together

For me, between 2 and 2 1/2 years apart will be ideal. I thought I would want them closer together, but now that DS is here, I can wait.

Good to know, seems most people say 2-3 years. That's what I figured too.

I think it is not the age difference but the personalities and family that make a sibling "close". I know people who are 12 months younger than their siblings and they are not friends at all. I know people who are 10 years older than their sibling and they are best friends. It really depends on the people.
I agree. My sister and I are 18 months apart and my sister and my brother are 18 months apart (I am the oldest) and I am not that close with my sister, but my brother and sister are best friends.
