I have a mirror so I can see him, so if he isn't hurt I dont pull over... I put on a song he likes and sing to him

I've never pulled over. I might sing the alphabet as loud as I can like an idiot, but I don't pull over. I just keep driving.

i pulled over once bc we were in heavy traffic anyway on the SS pkway and i figured it would be easier for me to figure out why he was wailing like that by just pulling over rather than give him my attention while i'm on the road. I waited til i got to a spot that had a large shoulder area...not that it was a danger...it was pretty close to dead stop traffic. if i'm at a red light i'll reach back and put his pacifier in...but usually if i drive he's fine...he hates to be at red lights or in slow moving traffic though.

Wanted to add...

I rarely went far from home.

I also started to talk him through our route home, saying there's the library. Left turn on such a street. Down the curvy swervey road, there's our house, there's neighbor's car, etc. It still helps now when I can say we are almost home based on landmarks he knows how soon we'll be home.

I've pulled over a handful of times when she was young (always in a parking lot or off on a side street, I'd never pull over on a busy highway way to dangerous) because we weren't close to home, usually its because she lost her binky or wanted a bottle. If I'm relatively close to home I just let her cry. I find having barney music in the car now that she is older is a life saver..turn it on and she is a happy camper!

I let her cry. I turn the music up and eventually she falls asleep. My other DD will be back there saying "HANNAH just relax we are almost home!" LOL.

I cant reach her to give her the binky because of the way their carseats are so as long as I know something isnt seriously wrong I just deal with the screaming.

I don't pull over. She rarely cries in the car seat as it is, and when she does it's because she wants out of the seat. I have a feeling she'll feel better when I turn her FF next month.

We've never done anything. I figure, if they are crying, that means they are breathing, so they'll be fine....

Drive faster to get to wherever I'm going.

But really, unless they are hurt or sick I don't pull over.

We just turn his music on...if that doesn't work we just suffer. If he is not hurting then he will survive the trip home.

I would however like to address the fact that quite a few responses on here say that the mommy reaches around to give a pacifier. PLEASE, please, please do not do this while you are driving. There is a possibility that when your hand is on the steering wheel and you turn that you may turn the wheel thus jerking the car into another lane and possibly incoming trafffic That could be devistating. As mommies we are all too consumed sometimes with making our LO happy....we just have to remember that we have to do it the safest way possible. If that means a little crying for a bit in the car then so be it.
