What can I do with this window? Need treatment help!

It has a 6 inch ledge above it where the plant is so I can't hang curtains. Can I put a rod under the ledge? I mainly would want to put curtains to have them open. It just seems so naked, although I love the moulding work we had done. I cant envision if that would even work.

I dont want to go with roman shades bc I dont like having the window covering completely open or completely closed, I like how you can look out with blinds but not have to have them up.

I currently have 1 inch wood blinds, which I dont love but I got them to match another window in the room that couldnt accomodate a wider slat. I might change these to 2 inch slats but I definitely need something else here.

Hmm... that's tough because you want to keep that ledge and show off the moulding (which I don't blame you!)... if you like the blinds, then I say keep them and get a nice valance to go on the inside of the window, keeping the moulding visible. Usually, I'd just get a nice rod and hang it from the outside with nice valances, drapes and sheers to keep open.

ETA - Roman shades was the first thing that came to my mind...

I don't think I have a picture of my kitchen window, I'll have to see so I can show you. I hate it in my kitchen, but my window is ugly compared to that one! I'll be back with what I mean, if I can find a pic!

You can definitely put the rod under the ledge. I think it would look great.
