Awesome parents who want the best for their kids. Katie, a pair of jeans will never make or break you. It's the love that you give to your children that means the most. You and your dh have given them that and everything they need to succeed. Don't doubt yourself.

Scenario:
DD wants name brand jeans that have a steep price.
I was able to buy these name brand items at a fraction of the cost in a consignment shop.
Am I:
A) a smart mom. All she wants is the label. I was able to get her what she wanted and didn't have to break the bank
B) an enabler. Just because she wants it doesn't mean she should have it, no matter what the cost.
Buy them and make her EARN them.... Set a higher expectation for something (more than just doing her chores or behaving) and then she learns with hard work comes great reward!
There is nothing wrong with working hard to get something really want.... if its the label that you want, that's up to you!
Rj wanted oakleys for xmas... I refused to buy an 8 yr old $200 sunglasses.... I bought knock off's for $15- they look real and they were part of his "big gift" from us (everything else came from santa)... His dad has oakleys, he has friends with oakleys- he thinks they are "cool"- I think it comes with being a kid... He was over the trend as fast as it came on....

Look, this is my belief, if you can afford the lable you're wearing - than why shouldn't you wear it, drive it, live in it etc - ? It's no one's business and you don't have to explain or apologize your way out of anything -
"oh, she's only wearing those jeans b/c I got them on a CRAZY sale"
"Oh, I got these shoes at a sample sale, I'd NEVER spend (amount) on shoes"
"Oh, this car is a our 'nice' car - our 2nd car is a piece of crap"
DH and I work HARD for our paychecks. - and the same way people sacrafice things to NOT work and stay home w/ the kids, we sacrafice things TO work and do other things we think are important as well.
i'm not saying turn your daughter into a spoiled misearble entitled brat - but EVERY kid at some point in time is going to want designer something, simply b/c it's designer, and simply b/c 'everyone else is wearing it' - it doesn't make them less of a person to 'fit in' or want to 'fit in' from time to time - You didn't ruin your kid for life by buying her a pair of designer jeans.
My parents were (are) both really into clothes, appearance etc - Not labels, per se, but we were always the best dressed family at any event ......my Dad especially, is really particular about clothes - It is just something that's important to him - that's now important to my sister and I.
And they did for us exactly what you just did for your daughter -
IF they could do it, they did, but always at an outlet, or a crazy sale etc etc -
My sister and I never felt deprived, but we also knew we weren't always going to get what we wanted, and we also knew not to expect to - They didn't ALWAYS say Yes ........but like another person, said, they didn't ALWAYS say No either.
They raised two shoe/clothing obsessed daughters who REFUSE to purchase anything that's not on sale or w/o a coupon - 2 daughters who have worked and paid for their own cars, clothers, phones, insurance etc since they were kids, and two daughters that would easily pair a dress from Target with shoes from Manolo Blahnik and not blink -
There's NOTHING wrong with wanting or having nice 'things' ........as long as you work for them. Don't question yourself !
