weird screaming and crying in sleep??!!!
So been going on all week. Ds who is almost 10m starts wailing and wailing so I go to check on him expecting him to be sitting up or standing up but he is laying flat in his sleep position not moving!!! It happens 2 or 3 times a night and lasts about 10 min. And some of these nights he has been on tylenol bc he may be teething. What is this? Thoughts? Tia!!!!

weird screaming and crying in sleep??!!!
ugh.. *shivers* i remember those.. They will pass.. Mine actually semi woke.. utterly inconsolable. We'd all be up as she screamed on and on. I'd figure out some position that best worked and fell asleep ackwardly but holding her and she slept.
So glad those months are behind us!
Could have been teething, ear infection (for us), or nothing at all. Growing pains, odd nightmare images, I dont know!

weird screaming and crying in sleep??!!!
My ds is 10m too and just started doing that this week...it's awful & I feel so bad. Sometimes he's asleep, has his eyes closed and his little head is writhing back & forth like he's shaking something off. His second tooth is about to come through, so he's also on Tylenol sometimes when it happens. I think it's just a part of teething...

ds is 7 months old tomorrow and has been doing it. It gets worse as a tooth is about to appear, but he hasbeen doing it ongoingfor while. Usually as soon as i pick him up he is fine, and will fall back asleep. good luck!!!

Pretty normal. DS does it when he looks like he can't get comfy.
He has now started to talk in his sleep.

Sounds like night terrors. My kids used to have them. The hard part is that nothing would console them while the episode was happening. They eventually outgrew it.

for us, it's been an ear infection and teething.
just as an fyi- motrin works better for teething than tylenol since it is an anti-inflammatory.
See if motrin makes any difference.

Re: weird screaming and crying in sleep??!!!
I agree, it could be night terrors. DS did the same. If his eyes are'nt open I just wait for them to pass. I don't say much to him but I sometimes rub his back and he falls back asleep. If he wakes up and just sits crying I think it may be a nightmare and then I used to hold him till he fell back asleep.
These days (13mos!) he winds up in our bed. I know its a bad habit but I'm so tired! Once he falls asleep I put him back in his crib.

ITA. Tylenol does nothing for my little guy for teething pain but Motrin helps.

Re: weird screaming and crying in sleep??!!!
SO glad you posted this. My 22 month son just started doing this on occassion. He'll wake up crying in the middle of the night and I'll go in and he's still sleeping while he's crying. He's ALWAYS slept through the night so it is really weird. I wasn't sure if it was night terrors or now that I read everyone else's posts could be because his 2 yr molars are starting to cut through.
