We were robbed yesterday!
This post is parenting related, please don't move.
They got into my shed and stole 2 lawnmowers, a powerwasher, a weedwacker, 3 paintball guns along with all the ammunition and accessories to go along with them and our quad. We are just beside ourselves right now. I feel so violated. I'm just glad they didn't get into my actual house. Now I'm going to get another zone added to my alarm system to cover the shed. I never really thought about it, since we got the shed after we had the alarm installed.
Now for the parenting related part: does anybody know where kids go to ride quads and dirtbikes in suffolk county? The detective suggested we go there and see if we see anybody with our quad. We will of course call the police if we do...I would never try to handle it myself.

I have no idea... I just wanted to say I'm sorry, and I can totally empathize...
We lived in Florida about 20 years ago, and were being robbed as I walked into the house....
The feeling does eventually go away.....

I wanna say exit 56, right behind the holiday inn. I know how you feel my dh's work trailer was broken into last year and they stole all his landscaping equipment. I was told to search craigs list for a while, but we never found anything, maybe you can try though.

Just wanted to say how sorry I am it's such an awful feeling being robbed! My DH's car was broken into a few months ago right in front of our house and our neighbors had an AC taken right off of their porch in the late morning around the same time. Good luck finding out what you can. I would think most quad riding is done on the east end of LI. I know I've seen people off Sunrise Highway on trails.

I am sorry that happened to you.
Do you think it could be someone you know or someone from your neighborhood? It sounds like they knew what you had in your shed. I mean, who robs just a shed? That is big stuff too. I am surprised that no one noticed them hauling quads and lawnmowers off your property.
Again, I am sorry that happened. That stinks.

My brother goes quadding all the time .... in fact, his quad was stolen last year and the police found it 3 months later! Do you have a picture / description of it? Where do you live?
I'll tell him to ask around.

As for where people go quading I've seen them around exit 56 of the LIE (like a PP said) but also off of Sunrise Hwy in Patchogue, on the South side. Across from Chuck E Cheese.

Dell Drive in Amityville off 110, just south of 109....DH saids there are some trails back there its an industrial park area!!

Honestly, it sounds like they knew what they were going after. A quad isnt small, nor are the lawnmowers...Do you have a landscaper? Have you recently had work done around your house? New neighbors?
