We have a tiny visitor on our back patio . . . .

I feel so bad for the baby bunny. It was hiding next to a planter and was not moving at all. Then we found it hiding near the base of a chair. We know we can't touch it because it will then be rejected by its mother. We don't know what to do with it though. We are afraid we are going to find it . . . . .ugh, never mind- you not what I am saying . . . It is so cute and so helpless . . . .Chat Icon

Awwww so cute! We used to see those all the time by our old apartment. Is there a gate in your backyard you can open up so he can get out?

Yes there is a gate, but the backyard itself a wide open grassy area surrounded by "woodsy" area. We tried opening the gates, but this little bunny won't move. Brian tried actually moving the chair gently and it did not move at all. You can see its little nose moving around though . . . .

Call an animal hospital and they can give you advice. The mother may have already rejected it so you need to watch it because it could be eaten or attacked if its alone. Call the hospital, they'll tell you what to do.

Awwwww!

We just found one as well by our fence. About the same size, they must have been born around the same time.

Re: We have a tiny visitor on our back patio . . . .

That little guy looks big enough to survive on his own - we've had them over the past few years and they are not much bigger than an orange when they are out there zipping around in the grass. Bunnies do like to just hang out - they do strange things. We had a little guy that would sit for hours on the drainboard at the end of our drainpipe, just staring into it! We have a bigger bunny right now that is just hanging out enjoying the nice weather. Your bunny may percieve the chair or the planter as giving him the protection he needs to hide from predators.

I guess we will keep an eye on it. I just am worried that when the night creatures come out that this little guy will be open to danger . . . . . I think I am going to give the animal hospital a call and see what they say . . .

I called one animal hospital and it is closed. DH is making me feel nuts about calling an AH, since it is a wild animal . . . . .

Don't feel weird, they would know what to do. If not you can always call animal control too. I had to call them for some ducks that looked like they were hit in the road, they came out immediately. the ducks were gone of course by the time they got there! I hope they were ok!

Probably not - we have a ton of wild rabbits around here - had our own little bunny patch.
