Waking for the paci and CIO

DS is 5 months and was an amazing sleeper until about 4 months when he started breaking out of the swaddle. We ditched the swaddle and had one rough night and then he went back to sttn. Lately he has been waking randomly throughout the night I put the paci in and he goes right back to sleep. Sometimes he wakes once and sometimes it's 5-6 times. It needs to stop!!

I decided to do CIO tonight but he just won't fall back to sleep. He's not even screaming just crying and whining off and on and just can't get himself back to sleep. He has an aiden &anais security blankie he loves and I went in once and gave him that but still nothing!

Please tell me your waking for the paci and CIO success stories!!! And any tips you may have!

We took away the paci and did CIO at 5.5 months and it was one of the best things we ever decided to do.

i am in the EXACT spot as you. DD will be 5 months on the 23rd and we are 10-12 times a night. This is insane. I am beyond exhausted.

Most times I give her paci and shes back to sleep for a bit. but up again and again.

She is sick, and I think 2 teeth are coming but it seems like she needs to be swaddled again b/c she can't seem to control her arms or legs haha

She also wants to be on her belly which she rolls over but then can't relax enough to sleep. I tried kinda "holding" her head down, not hard obviously but some pressure so she knew she had to do that, and rubbed her back. She fell asleep but was back up with in mins. She has a lovey b/c she likes to hold something but she likes it on her face.

I don't know what to do. :(

I took them away cold turkey at about 7.5 mo. for the same reason. (woke for them but couldn't find or put back on their own). They took some time to settle but they pretty much sleep all night and don't wake anymore. Its more of an issue of getting them to sleep or nap now. Sleep is easier, but naps are still crazy. It might be related more to age though (10 mo) with knowing more and wanting to be up and play and separation anxiety.

I would put multiple pacis in the crib. She would find one and put it in her mouth.

We had that issue with DD around that age. Between needing the paci to soothe and wanting desperately to turn over onto her belly, but not knowing how, we didn't sleep for a couple of months. It was rough. We tried everything, CIO, taking away the paci, throwing a bunch pf pacis in the crib, placing her to sleep on her tummy (I know, not supposed to, but it didn't work anyway) and honestly, nothing worked until she figured out how to roll over on her own. For the last month or so (she's 8.5 mo), she's only been waking once a night to nurse. We leave 5 pacis and a lovey in the crib and she rolls around and gets what she needs. While I don't wish not sleeping for a bunch of months on anyone, it's entirely possible that your little guy just needs to figure out his way around. I know that's why my DD was up so much, you could hear and see her trying to roll over. All night long....

Try pinning the security blanket to his PJs so he can easily grab it and snuggle with it at night. We would use a diaper pin.

I had the same issue when my oldest was 5 months- we did the Ferber method and I would give him back the paci. It worked but he had that damn paci for 3 years sooooo...

dd is 6 months and i went through the same thing around 5 months.
she now has 3 pacis and 2 security blankets in her crib so she can find them on her own (usually)
but we still had to CIO. it was rough 3 nights but it worked
she cried on and off for 1.5 hours all three nights (from about 3am - 430am) then the 4th night she sttn from 730pm-6am
