Very touchy/sensative/personal Poll

This is not a poll to start a debate on the moral correctness of Abortion.
A friend and I were talking about the "popularity" of it and I am just checking.
By NO means do you have to post which way you answered.

Re: Very touchy/sensative/personal Poll

I have never had one, but my college roommate had one, another bartender I worked with had one, and a friend in HS had one. I know of others too, but not as close to them.

It is hard, because I am against it, and I hate to say it, but it was hard not to judge these people in my life. I was never rude to them, just very turned off. I know it is a hard thing, and to each there own, but I could not fight my feeling of maybe I should have persuaded them more not to do it.

Re: Very touchy/sensative/personal Poll

I personally know of a few people who have had abortions.. two close friends, and one of my cousins. In all cases, despite my PERSONAL feelings I supported them 100% .. none of them came to an easy decision when it came to making this choice.

IMO if you believe that abortion is something you could not do YOURSELF, that does not automatically mean that you are NOT be pro choice. I am pro-choice and support a woman's right to choose -- despite the fact that my own feelings about the topic is that it would not be the right decision for ME to make.

That said.. when you speak of popularity, are you referring to the fact that it seems that abortion is become more like a substitiute for "birth control" .. meaning the rise in multiple abortions per person is troubling IMO. With the abortion pill and the like , its easier today to get an abortion than before.. so it does worry me that rather than trying to find an effective plan of Birth Control, *some* people are reckless and will continue to abort as a form of "Birth Control" so to speak

I am even more shocked that people know women who have had 3Chat Icon not that I don't believe people have 3, but that you would actually make it public, so that people know. It is one thing I would take to the grave, other then proper therapy.

Re: Very touchy/sensative/personal Poll

I guess the more I think about it, then YES abortion is birth control

By the statements I made, I mean that I've read articles that its becoming more common to hear about girls/women who dont even bother with traditional forms of birth control at all. The thought being that "well, if I do get PG, I can just go an have an abortion, no biggie.." THAT to me is reckless and disturbing and altogether different than the woman who gets pregnant unplanned and is not in the correct position (mentally/financially/other) to raise a child, and chooses abortion at that point.

I DIDN"T HAVE 3. A FRIEND of mine did. And nobody here knows who she is so what is the difference if i said it or not?

It is a fact of life that this occurs. I have only know 1 person who did this. But i amsure there are plenty of others that know more

Re: Very touchy/sensative/personal Poll

No, even outside of a rape situation, abortion is NOT always a form of BC...

And, I KNOW a girl who had 2 abortions, but she is only an acqaintance- never was a "friend"...so, I selected "no" because the other options were stating that we had a "friend"...

Anyway, while I am 110% pro-choice, I would not have an abortion.

And, one KEY thing that was left out here...VERY KEY: has anyone had an abortion (or know someone who had an abortion) because of medical complications?

I have a cousin who had an abortion because she give birth to 1 baby who died very early one from a disease. She was told that she had a 75% of having "normal" children, so she and her husband kept trying. Next pregnancy also resulted in the disease and after recently burrying one baby, they couldn't go through that again. So, they terminated the pregnancy and kept trying for more kids. Now they have 2 healthy children...

If someone wants a child VERY much and it was a planned pregnancy, but the pregnancy could kill the mother

It was left out, because I wanted an answer on who had an abortion, period.

IMO i don't think it is any easier to talk about then years before.

I am not sure of the popularity to be honest. Since my age and the age of my friends...at this point abortion isn't even a thought. When i was younger...well that is when the people i have known to have them...did.
But with the abortion pill and people thinking that this should be much more easily accessed...well that would imo make its popularity rise

I know it wasn't you, I am sure she is not on this site, and I am sure you are a trusted friend, I am just saying, that to admit to 3 abortions is heavy, and I am shocked people are not ashamed to admit to having 3.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the removal of a dead fetus also considered to be an abortion?

ets: I'm only asking because that would REALLY skew your results- I'm assuming you want to know about viable fetuses that were terminated...

Having an abortion in that case is STILL birth control. You are controling whether a child will be born or not. Is it for obviously health reasons...yes. But it is still birth control IMO

I agree- and for me, the fact that my family would be there and be supportive and help me (had it happened when I was in hs or college, mainly) would have been important. But if someone does not have such a support system, I can see how it would be too overwhelming.

My mom used to work for an OB/GYN and there was a woman who came *3* times for abortions. The doctor got angry after the third and told her not to come back if she chose to have another. And this was an educated woman, who likely did know her BC options.

well when you are telling someone, a trusted friend, because you need that person support and know that you will not be judged for it....it isn't all that odd
