Verizon Fios or IO tripple play cable

Can anyone give me any feedback on which they have and if you like it?

Verizon Fios!! For the money you get much more. I hated Cablevision - had them for over 15 years. DH and I made the switch in Feb and are so much happier!

I have the triple play thru cable and they s uck! cable in general stinks. DH uses the free wi-fi all over the island so that's the only reason we don't switch

their boxes are forever breaking my MIL has had issues with her cable and phone for months and so has their entire block. most of the street has been without phones for 20 out of the 30 days in a month. you never know if they work or not, and everyone who comes out can't fix them

I would go to verizon in a heart beat, I even like their Dvr program better

we went with fios, the prices were comparable but DH and I wanted to ability to view DVR's on multiple boxes in our house, with optimum you only had the ability to view a DVR from just one

we just switched to fios and are VERY happy. The only thing I haven't figured out is on cablevision we could have our voicemails emailed to us and i can't seem to find that on fios.

You get more channels, less money and free wifi (no extra router needed and its secured)

I'm completely biased b/c DH works for Cablevision so we get triple play for free . However, I know of 3 people that had Fios and switched back because they said that every month their rate kept going up until it got to a point where they were paying nearly double from where they started out. Plus there are huge cancellation fees. Again, this is not personal experience - just word of mouth. Good luck with your choice!

Just switched to Fios. LOVE IT!


Cablevision was always freezing during shows. Drove me nuts!


The picture & colors on the TV on Fios are amazing!


I have Verizon triple play. I have no issues with their internet or phone service either.


Cablevision actually called me last night and offered me triple play for $69 a month for 2 years to come back
It was tempting but I love the new tv picture.

I have the triple play through Cablevision and I am happy with it. The only problem I had was a faulty box which was replaced. I never had a problem with the phone or the internet service.

We had cablevision (as do my parents for liek 20 years) and I was fine with it but once our triple play rate went up and they refused to lower it back to $99.99, DH said then we're going to FIOs where the triple play is $69 for the 1st 6 months and then goes up to about $100 which is still less than cablevision. Well, i was hesitant but we did it and Fios is great! Really great picture quality and cool options for stuff on the screen (photos, ect) After we switched Cablevision offered us $69 for the triple play They should have done that before. We are very happy with Fios and there is no cancellation fee so if the rates go up too much, we'll switch.

Right now we have IO triple play. We're paying $190/month for 2 HD boxes, 1 DVR HD box, 3 remote, family cable + showtime. It is absurd what we pay. I just did a quick thing on FIOS to see what it would cost us and for the first 6 months it's $85 and the next 18 is $105. Huge difference. We will most likely be switching unless IO will match.

ETS: We've had it for 2 years (I had TW in Queens) and have had no issues except a huge bill.

I have had Fios for 1 year now and the only complaint I have is hte billing. Not the pricing necessarily but the bill is hard to figure out they often make mistakes and I call regularly to get it fixed! But they do their best to keep my rates affordable so I wont complain about the price - YET.

Cable was fine, really had no issues but my TP pricing went up and they were flexible at all with me so I left. Once I left they offered the the sun and moon and stars. My latest FIOS promo ends this month so we will see what happens.

Things I like about FIOS, once you get used to new channel numbers they make more sense, all the kids channels are together, all the movie channels etc, Cable being around for so long hte #s are all over the place ie, Kids channels 31, 32, 33 and 123, 131...to me its annoying. FIOS has more kids on demand and sprout which DS likes. FIOS's dvr has better functionality than cable but I still miss my TIVO. Cable on demand menus IMO are easier to find what you want. The biggest thing though, cable has such a delay. With FIOS you hit the menu button and within seconds my menu is there. Cable that darn IO symbol or worse the black screen sits there for up to a minute before the menu comes on and then I still have to select channel guide to see whats on.

I say switch if you dont like it you can always come back!
PS the install was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Oh and out of all the people I know who have switched to FIOS only 1 has swtiched back it was purely $$ related.

Just recently switched to FIOS and will not go back to Cablevision... EVER.

It's cheaper and you get a lot more for your money! We just got our first bill yesterday and it was $70 cheaper than our monthly Cablevision bill.

I switched to Fios 2 days ago and we LOOOOVE it. We HATED Cablevision and would pay more to have Fios if we had to but luckily it's even cheaper!

verizon charges tax cablevision does not thats why I believe the amount is different

And cablevision says its getting the same system as verizon where u can watch any dvr'd show on any tv (but you can only delete it from one)

verizon doesn't have cancelation fees anymore or at least not on the triple play-can you tell I did my research and i want to switch?

I've never had any major issues with cablevision- I also have never had access to FIOS ever. I wouldn't say I love cablevision - my only complaint is when they had the whole HGTV/Food network debacle and then ABC...

We just switched to FIOS and couldn't be happier. We have moe channels ad better technology. Our cell phones are Verizon so they are hooked up to our server at home and it makes our cell reception 100x better and faster in the house. Also I love the fact that we have multi room DVR and we can DVR a program from our cell phone!! We switched the first day Verizon was available in our area

Glad to hear all the good things about FIOS! We made the switch and are getting hooked up on Wednesday AM. Can't wait!
