Vent: 1st Day Over Zealous Moms and the Bus stop...
Am I the only one who gets irritated with the over zealous Mom's at the school bus. Our bus was literally 15 minutes late because there were several Mom's along the bus route that felt that they should have a whole photo shoot assigned to them as their kid got on the bus. Little Jimmy waving bye, Little Jimmy stepping on the bus, standing next to the bus driver, waving out the window w/his friends, etc. I thought the bus driver was kidding until I saw another idiot mother on the bus route pull the same routine and EVEN got ON the bus to take the pictures. Ladies, these kids need to get to SCHOOL. Not to mention, the bus driver has accountability to pick up OTHER children
I truly hope this is a 1st day occurrance and their inconveniences to the route are not daily.

It's their first day of school suck it up for a day! If you don't like it drive your kid to school that day.

I would imagine that most of these parents were sending their kids on the bus for the very first time ever. And even if they are returning students the first day of school is a big day.
I'm not there yet, but I can guarantee I will be there, SLR in hand, taking tons of pictures of my boys on their first day of school.

I cut everyone slack on the first day - from the sobbing kids to the sobbing moms.

Well, if my daughter took a bus, I'd be "one of those Moms." It's the first day of school..a SPECIAL, UNFORGETTABLE day. Nothing wrong with it on the first day. I'd be bothered if it happened EVERY SINGLE DAY but I doubt that's what will go on. I'm happy to see Mom's and Dad's excited about documenting their kids first day..where I live, I watch children walk to school by themselves at the age of 7. Id rather see proud parents taking pictures!

Well.. kill me know! I did that last year with our kid. It's memories!
And I don't care. Like 15 MINUTES is the end of the World. In 20 years I will look at his pics. Remembering his FIRST day!!!!
But I will be honest. I will completely forget about any other mom too "blase" for those little moments.

I was there taking pictures too, but I didn't interrupt the flow of the day for the driver or other parents by STOPPING the bus driver for photo ops or walking onto a school bus to take pictures...give me a break!

I highly DOUBT it will be like this everyday of the school year. Cut them some slack.
FTR: I was so totally that mother when DS started K. Now I take a few pics but he's at the age where it embarrasses him.
When DS2 starts K ill be "That" mom again. So better hope your DC wont be on that bus.

Wow. Why don't you go back and pull out your pictures from DC's first day of school and remember what it felt like to have them go to school for the first time

I did walk my ds on the bus for his first day. We're the ones that have to make sure the seatbelt is on for the first day.
My kids are older & I'm still taking first day pictures.

Someone actually got on the school bus?? That is ridic and deserves and eye roll. Nothing wrong with getting pics of kids getting on the bus and sitting in their seat from the outside... but to actually step onto the bus for a pic is a little overboard.

I was taking pictures this morning although I didn't see anyone really holding up the bus except to say turn around to their child as they got on the bus. Everyone at the bus stop said they expected the bus to be a little late today, the first day. Sorry it upset you.

Maybe I am harsh too but I agree with the poster. There is nothing wrong with taking pictures of the kids before school, I have done it every year with my kids BUT to make the kids late is not right. They are nervous enough and there is no reason to have a shot of the kid every step of the way to the bus stop, getting on the bus and on the bus.

wow. I think you are being a little harsh. Its their first day!! OF COURSE ITS NOT GOING TO BE A DAILY THING! My DD will start K tomorrow. Its her first time on the bus, her first year in full time school, etc...I WILL NOT miss the photo ops. sorry....

I was almost late dropping Peyton off to school because of a group of "those" mom's at a very big bus stop. I have to tell you that as a mom that has been there, I totally got it. I practically had tears in my eyes as one little girl would NOT let go of her mom and got on and off the bus 3 times.
I think that you need to cut these parents some slack. Now, if it is day 2 and your making me late, I will kick your BLEEEEEP!

I cannot WAIT to be that mom. I mean, I can wait  but I will REVEL in it.
and I don't care. how frigging tight do you have to be to not be moved by this exciting day. to be irritated by such an emotional event in both the life of a parent and the child.
you can roll your eyes down the street for all I care. cuz, I don't.
b/c mine will be FIXED on my son..snap snap snap.   snap snap snap rinse and repeat!!!!!!!
and I will be hot damned if I let anyone pee in my cheerios that day.

Same here! Ahhh I have great memories of that first day of kindergaten for my older 2 and will get to do it again one more time! :) After the first day every day after that goes smoothly so don't worry!
Now just wait until you have to fill out 500 forms and they are all due tomorrow! LOL
