*Update* Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
My Mom is taking me and my 7-year old daughter on a trip to celebrate her 70th birthday. My DD has never been. Of course my Mom and I have, but it's been years. We'll probably end up at a Deluxe Hotel(I did stay at the Grand Floridian back in 2006) and would like a recommendation for one. We are ones who love a nice hotel with good restaurants and shops, great pool, etc.
We are going to go end July or early August. Do you think for that time frame we'll be able to get my DD into the great places? Speaking of great places, pleasseee tell me where I should try and book for her...what are the "musts" for a little girl?
Who could recommend a wonderful travel agent? I need to get the ball rolling since its 4 months away.
Thanks so much!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you all for your input! We just booked the Poly, a room with a view of the Magic Kingdom. It literally was a coin toss between that and The Grand Floridian, was so hard to decide. The woman said the view we got is only in one building but if anyone has any other suggestions to put down (even though we know not guarenteed), please let me know regarding the room.
Now on to seeing if we can get any good dining reservations, doubtful but I'll keep trying daily
Thanks again, I'm sure I'll have soooo many more questions!

Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel and the BEST DISNEY Moderate Hotel
I love the Beach Club and the poly. I havent stayed at a moderate yet so I cant recommend one.
I will say that it will be very hard to get a lot of the good reservations with your time frame. the summer is busy and dining opens up at the 6th month mark so most people already booked. I went in August last time and it was difficult getting reservations on the 180th day (day it opens).

Thank you. We'll try our best! Is the Poly updated? It's been around SOOO long! Any specific rooms/room location you recommend there? Is it easy to get to and from the Beach Club to the parks!

Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
We love the Yacht Club (it's connected to the Beach Club), they have the BEST pool on property! and you can walk or boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The bus service stinks to the Magic Kingdom though, and I find that to be the case at most of the Disney hotels to be honest!
We have never stayed there, but the Poly rooms are updated. We walked through one of the longhouses last month when we visited the property, and it stunk like a musty moldy smell. That turned me off, so while it's convenient, I probably wouldn't want to stay there and smell that when going back to my room each day!
We like Wilderness Lodge also. Short boat ride to the MK

Thank you! Does anyone seems to stay with children at the Grand Floridian? Does the monorail come thru Poly and Contemporary? How's the Contemporary? Do you have a Travel Agent recommendation?
Thanks

Re: Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
We recently stayed in one of the updated rooms at the Polynesian. Everything was great. They have new bungalows but we didn't stay there.
I don't think any of the actual Disney resorts are luxurious. I have stayed at Grand Floridian and it was good for transportation as is Polynesian.
For luxury, I highly recommend the Four Seasons Orlando. Hotel is brand new. Pool is fabulous. Rooms are spacious. Super close to Disney. Nice coach bus takes you straight to TTC. I didn't go to the spa but I'm sure it wouldn't disappoint.

Re: Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
I stayed at the POLY about 2 years ago. I found it still very dated. Our room was in the bldg TOKELAU which was supposedly updated but we thought it was HORRIBLE, dark, dated, DUSTY. Eh. Love the hotel and location and property but the rooms SUCK.
I have stayed at the Contemporary and like it but it's very modern and a bit cold/commerical.

Monoral stops at GF< POLY< CONTEMP. It literally runs through the Contemporary. I like the Contemporary but as I said above it's noisy, and more commercial. Location is awesome, views are awesome (gotta stay in the main tower for views).
I love being near the MK, over Epcot, so my next choice is Wildness lodge (deluxe but no monorail, must use the boat).

We stayed at the club level this time and the rooms were very plain. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Nothing special at all besides transportation to MK.
That being said, I love our breakfast options at Polynesian and you can get pineapple dole whip.

Seems like if we want the monorail than the "prettiest" of the three is The Grande Floridian. If we don't care about the monorail then maybe the Beach Club? Soooo overwhelming! Do we need to specially call the hotel to make sure we are getting the room view we are specifically booking for IF I do it thru Disney's site or trust that I'm getting what it says?

I personally liked our updated club level Polynesian room more than our regular grand flordian room. I was not impressed with either room though.
You can't go wrong with either hotel. I personally like Polynesian better.

Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
We are staying in a deluxe garden room at the Grand Floridian this summer with our 9 year old DD. The room was a little bigger than most and for some reason was priced on par with the other hotel regular rooms. It will be our first time at the GF but I know my daughter will LOVE it.
We have stayed at the Poly many times and I find it dark and not my taste at all. My husband loves it and it is his favorite. I think they are still working on the quiet pool so we didn't want to be there during construction. The Beach Club is awesome and has the best pool but we wanted to be on the monorail. We also stayed at the Contemporary a few times and while I liked the hotel, I do not like the pools and won't stay there during summer months.
You should just look through pictures of the resorts and see what appeals to you. Every Deluxe Resort is great in it's own way and it really depends on what you like.

Re: Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
I'm in the minority but I love the Contemporary. I've stayed at all three monorail resorts and the Contemporary is still my favorite with the Poly being a close second. The GF doesn't do it for me.
If you're not concerned with price, I'd do a theme park view in the Contemporary. You can't beat the location. You are literally within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom. You cannot imagine how helpful that is after fireworks when everyone is making a mad rush for the monorail.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the Deluxe resorts. The only one I'd stay away from is Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's gorgeous but so far from everything.

Re: Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
The "best" deluxe hotel depends on what you want to do while there.
If you are planning on spending most of your time at Magic Kingdom, then the Poly, Contemporary or Grand Floridian is the way to go. I love Wilderness Lodge but they're doing a lot of construction so I would stay away for now.
If you are planning on being at Epcot and Hollywood Studios a lot, I love the Yacht and Beach Club.
I absolutely love Animal Kingdom too. It's the most unique hotel on property. Where else can you sit on your balcony and overlook a Savannah and see animals????? It's pretty amazing but not very convenient for a park-focused trip.

The Poly is my favorite with Beach club second. The Poly just went through major construction the last 2.5 years so it was a bit of a mess during that. But all that is done now and it looks great!
Good luck! oh and I have always used Samantha from Magical Vacations Travel. She is awesome!

Re: Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
We stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge with a 4 and 2 year old. My boys loved it as did I. Out our balcony was giraffes and zebras. There were animals all over the grounds. It was a beautiful hotel with different restaurants than normal (they were very good). The only issue waS the only transportation is the buses. That being said I think it took only about 10-20 minutes on the buses depending on the park we were going to. It was not a big deal at all.

Re: *Update* Please recommend the BEST DISNEY Deluxe Hotel
For restaurants, keep trying even while you were there. I saw reservations come up for Cinderella's Royal table multiple times during our trip and they had walk ups available when we checked in for our reservation. If you're flexible with times, you can probably get some good places.
For hotel room, look at this . It shows views, tells you how to request the rooms. I didn't see it until after we went, so didn't try it. We were just at the yacht club. Very nice, but I wish we were at a monorail resort. Also, I usually request a room with a view and far away from elevator - they put us almost as far away as you can get and it was about a 5 minute walk. At the end of our a day of walking, I was wishing we were near the elevator.

We love the poly. If you booked a regular non DVC room request a third floor room. You'll get a better view. The second floor hotel rooms at the poly do not have balconies. All DVC rooms have balconies
People cancel dining reservations all the time so if you don't get what you want at first keep trying. Same thing with fast passes.
