Update on yesterday's DR. visit (long)
As many of you read and replied to, I had my 39 week visit yesterday. I was going in expecting SOMETHING to happen. I even had everything for my hospital bag laid out (I'm so bad and hadn't even packed yet) just in case they told me to go up to the hospital yesterday. The thursday before the baby measured 9lbs 12 oz and all along they've been telling me to wait until 39 weeks for them to do something, and I was officially 39 weeks on sunday.
I went in, had my internal with the doctor in the practice who I don't care for that much (there are 2 in the practice) and he said no progress, and I asked him if we were going to do anything and he said we'd keep waiting. I questioned him MANY times, saying I'm 39 weeks, why can't we do anything now, and he kept saying I'm not inducable and that it would end up in a c-section, and I kept saying so why don't we just go with a c-section now because they've been telling me for weeks that if the baby was over 10 lbs they'd do one anyway and the baby was so close last week, and they were worried about it's shoulders getting stuck, and he just said come back thursday and we'll discuss it then. he always tells me we'll discuss it next week or whatever, and then refuses to make any decisions the next visit.
anyway after i saw him i had to go for my NST so about 45 minutes later I needed to see thedoctor again, but this time the doctor I had just seen had left, went to a meeting out of the building. so I saw the other doc who I like much more. as soon as I wakled into the room he was like "what are we waiting for, when are you going to have this baby" and I was just like "you tell me!" i discussed my concerns with him and discussed what me and the other doctor discussed and he just kept saying he didn't see why we were waiting, that he was fairly positive the baby would be over 10 lbs and that we'd have to do a c-section anyway. he talked to me about the risks of having the baby's shoulders get stuck in the birth canal and they were REALLY scary. he said the baby could become paralized or even die because they have limited amount of time to get the baby out of that position. and even though some women deliver 10 and 11 lb babies just fine, i've never delivered before and it was a great risk and so he'd probably want to do the c-section anyway. so he told me to go upstairs and get another sono and if thebaby measured more then 10 lbs we'd schedule it for tihs week.
i went upstairs and she re-measured everything like 30 times to be sure she was accurate, and the baby kept coming up around 10 lbs 3 oz. so the doctor peeked his head in and told me that we'll be having the baby on THURSDAY!!!!
so we ended up booking everything for thursday. i am having a c-section at 1 o'clock. the doctor completely rearranged his schedule and changed other appointments to accomidate me. they also realized that my fluid is low. it dropped from 10.8 last week to 7.5 yesterday which is really low and anything under 6 is like DANGEROUSLY low so it's a good thing the good doctor wanted me to get that sono, beacuse otherwise we'd have waited till thursday for my next appointment and we wouldn't have known how low it had gotten.
i now have 2 days left to prepare myself for my little baby coming into the world! i'm a little bit disappointed that i won't be able to have the experience of a natural birth, but it's a little reassuring also to know that i'm having a c-section and hopefully it'll be safer for my baby! i'm so excited and anxious and can't wait for thursday!

Thank you so much everyone! Today has been a busy day and I'm sure tomorrow will be also ... just getting all the last minute stuff in order! I am so glad that I ended up seeing the other doctor yesterday! I am going to request him specifically from now on I think. The other doctor just has always not been very nice with me and the more I think about it the more I disaggree with his lack of decision making in the end. They will both participate in the c-section/delivery, but I will request the nicer one for all of my follow-ups, and I'm still considering changing doctors eventually, after the baby is born and I've had my follow-up visits.
Thanks so much for all your good wishes! Only a day and a half to go! I'm so excited!!

What hospital is your SIL delivering at? I am delivering at NSLIJ Plainview. Wouldn't it be funny if it were the same hospital? I know they had other c-sections scheduled for the day and that's why I have a 1 o'clock appointment and not first tihng in the AM!
