I had increased risks for a few things at the ultrascreen and 16 week blood work. I decided to wait until the Level II before doing any invasive testing. My Level II looked great although I will be monitored closely for growth in the 3rd trimester. The ultrascreen is just a screening test not a diagnostic. It's very common to have a false positive. I hope everything is ok.

I did! I don't remember the 1 in number but I was 30 and had the risk of a 38yo (and with my previous son 1 year earlier, had the risk of a 20 yo).
The waiting is TORTURE. The what-ifs were incessant, especially since - like you - we already had a child whose life would be tremendously effected by our decision. Just try to keep busy, though I know that not much helped during the wait period for me.
I did the amnio and thankfully everything turned out fine. I'm hoping the same for you too

I am 30 as well and thats what they said to me is I had the risk of a 38 yr old. my daughter will be 5 and with her everything came back normal. All I can think about is the what ifs... How will our family deal with this. I could cry for hours but I dont want my daughter or my husband to see the tears.

Andrea, first off tons of hugs!!!!!!! When PG with Troy, everything came back normal. With my niece, the same. I have been told the test is not 100% accurate and not to look at those results alone. I was told there are 3 tests done thru the pregnancy that they use to formulate more accurate results. I can only imagine how trying this is on you, but to keep a positive attitude for you, your family and the growing baby!!!!!

Mine was 1 in 116 I think. These statistics mean nothing. I know many parents who's statistics weren't even anything significant at all, and they had a baby with Down's Syndrome anyway. My doctor told me not to worry, everything would be fine. She was right!

So happy to hear! I remember getting my call and I almost threw up as I answered, not knowing what the doctor was going to tell me. Hearing all came back perfectly normal was the best news ever!
