Someone I met at a work convention did this to me. We befriended eachother when she was very early pregnant. She loved my daughters anme. She found out later on she was having a girl and used the same name. I was an immature idiot and refused to tell her how I spelled it. She ended up spelling it slightly different.
2 years ago I found out that Amy Adams named her daughter my daughters name- same spelling and everything. I was so proud of that Amy Adams for picking such a beautiful name!!!!

So to answer your question YES I would be a lunatic and totally say that we sex on Tuesdays in case they need to do everything the same!

if they aren't close and you don't speak with them - who cares? IMHO - imitation is sincerest form flattery. You should feel good - they loved your names!

There are a million other kids out there with the same names. You will cross their paths more often than these people I bet. I would let it go

Unless the names are *extremely* rare or unique, I don't see this as that big of a deal. Especially because you aren't even close to your cousins (you didn't even know she had a baby!).

That is annoying! I have a ton of cousins that I only see on very special occasions and I STILL would not dream of using their DCs names.

Honestly, if it were family we saw I would NEVER, EVER use the same name. No way. There are enough names out there that I see NO reason to swipe a name that someone in my family has already chosen. I would be annoyed too.

one time, ok. twice-def. strange. it's like they can't come with something on their own.

sil did this. i mentioned i loved xxx name for a girl (neither of us were pregnant at the time) and then she got pg with a girl first. guess which name she "chose" for her dd!

it wasn't so much that she used that name, it was the fact that she pretended no one had ever heard the name before and she came up with it!

i later became pg with a dd and now love my dd's name (not the same name) much MORE than i loved the other name. it all worked out in the end.

i would keep baby#3's name a secret and tell your mom to keep it a secret as well. gl!

The fact that they used BOTH your kids names is a little odd but ya know maybe they just like those names and don't think anything of it?

Personally in my family we have a lot of repeat names, some of bc they are family names and some are bc two people liked the same name. I have an older second cousin who has the same name as me. My mom loved the name her whole life and when she had me decided that she wanted to use it eventhough her cousins DD had the name. (it is a classic/common name)

My son has the same name as my second cousins DS. It was my grandfathers name AND my DH's grandfathers name and my Dad, brother and DH's middle name It is a family name (Not for my second cousin she just liked it) and I did think "maybe I shouldnt use it bc she did" but then I decided she didnt own the name and I wanted my son to have that name (for the record she didnt care at all).

So yes it is weird they chose BOTH your kids names but the fact that you got so worked up over the first child having the same name as yours IMO is silly. No one owns a name, people pick a name that they love that their child will carry for the rest of their life, if someone I know happens to have a kid with the same name it is pretty inconseqential in the grand scheme of my my lif e and my kids name choice.

If we have another boy I love Luke and my VERY close friends son is Luca, oh well.

There are trends with kid's names. Are the names of your kids the "in" names right now? Are they listed in the "top ten" baby names for the past three or four years? If so- there is a strong likelihood that others are going to have the same names, even people you know. It is kind of weird that it happened twice. But would I freak out about it? No.

you don't see or speak to this person so she's technically 'family' - but for you to not even know she had another child ....well, you obviously aren't close family and you never see each other - so what does it matter? it's not like youir kids are going to be in the same room together any time soon.

If it were ME, would she get talked about among my cousins I WAS close with? Absolutely. But more in a kind of way - not that I'd be fuming MAD about it.......

Since you aren't close enough to even know she had a second child I wouldn't let myself get upset over it. But it's definitely weird. No question about that.

One name wouldn't bother me at all, but two is just weird. I would never do that, so close cousin or not I think it's odd and would whenever I think or talk about her lol It's too bad you can't keep this little one's name a secret lol

One name, i'd deal with it, Two is just odd.

Personally I try to steer away from any names of anyone that we knows kids.

And when I heard of other people with kids with the same name when I had another I made sure not to name it the same.

It's only ok if they are family names. Like we have 40 million Franks, Pauls in the family. But otherwise, that's rude and a little weird of them

2 children with the same name, weird.

It could be worse. My friend from college found out her dad had a second family in another country (he traveled often) & used her & her brother's name for those kids!
