TTC Amateur and confused about EWCM
i read posts that mention it but im confused as to what it means when you see it.
is it a sign of ovulating? should BD be happening when its there?
help a confused soul

Yes and yes! Women typically get 1-5 days of EWCM before ovulation. This is a very fertile time! Sperm can survive in EWCM for several days, so the sperm is ready and waiting when the egg drops. You're also considered fertile when you have wet/watery CM (I get this right before EWCM).
When you see either, definitely BD!

EWCM is the most fertile type of CM. It's rich in the nutrients sperm need inorder to survive inside the vagina and the rest of the reproductive track.
Yes, when you see this you should BD! It is a great indicator that O is coming.

its a good indicator of impending ovulation. IN GENERAL (everyone is different) you would get it for a few days before ovulation, and once ovulation occurs it goes away. when you see it you should get BDing. not everyone gets it every cycle. esp. if you are recently off BCP or other chemical contraceptives because they block the production of it and it takes time to get back in sync after coming off.
this is going to sound gross but its also easy to confuse EWCM with "leftover" semen from BDing. they are similar in color and consistency because functionally the EWCM keeps the spermies alive until they reach their destination - the egg!!
