Traveling w/ an 8m old- Infant Seat or Convertible ?

I'm traveling to Florida w/ DS for the first time in 2 weeks and I'm terrified of the plane ride. We're flying JetBlue and left an empty middle seat in between me and my sister on the is plane that hopefully no one takes ( FL in July hot so im hoping the plane stays half booked like it is now).

My dilemma is that DS is 19lbs and at least 27 inches long. We have the Snugride 22 which his feet almost hang over the edge of. We haven't installed the Britax Marathon yet since I figured it would be easier to travel with the infant seat & a snap n go. But lately he seems fussy in the seat at the mall and sometimes in the car. But Im not sure if he'd be fussy in the convertible seat too, since babies in general dont like to be in a car seat for long periods of time, kwim?

Should I keep him in the infant seat or switch to the Britax & buy a cheaper Evenflo seat to take on the plane. Then what do I do about a stroller? Bring my city mini? Will they break it under the plane? Aaaaaaaaaah so many questions!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have no experience with this, but if u can get away with it itd use the snap and go, so easier to fold and store

We are going to the Bahamas in August and DS will be 8 months. I'm going to use the infant seat...I'm sure he will still be in it at that point and it's a lot easier to transport. I'm also just bringing a lightweight umbrella stroller and gate checking it. We are flying Jet Blue too, and that's what they recommend that I do.

we took DS to Boston at 8.5 months and he was still in the infant seat (we waited to switch him until after this trip for ease of traveling)

he was fine and he was about 20-21lbs and 28 inches!!

I would bring your convertible car seat, and then you can use it while in Florida if you rent a car. I flew to Florida in March when DS was 8 months and rented a car w/a convertible seat in it and even though it was his first time in one, he was fine. In fact, when we got home we switched him to our Britax b/c we was so fussy in the infant seat (he was just under 20 lbs.) Also, we brought our stroller with us (the Graco Metrolite) and gate-checked it, and it was fine when we got there! I was glad to have the better stroller other than the snap and go b/c we did a lot of walking and the snap and go isn't the best for that.
