Toddler in a limo

My 2 year old is in a bridal party coming up. I mentioned putting a car seat in the limo and I feel like I got crazy looks. Have you put a car seat in a limo? Was it easy? Should I be pushing for it? From the church to the reception is pretty far. They will be on the expressway. Dh will be with him.

Re: Toddler in a limo

I think I read that limos are not safe for toddlers and that you can't install a car seat properly.
I could be mistaken.
Personally I'd drive him in my own car with a car seat

I'd drive in my own car too. I'm just not comfortable with the idea of not being in a car seat. God forbid there was an accident they would fly.

I am soooo not a crazy mom with rules, but toddlers have died in limos either because they weren't in car seats or because they weren't installed correctly.

I'd drive him - let your husband go in the limo alone

Toddler in a limo

No way would I let my toddler go in a limo. I'd drive myself and follow the limo.

I don't think it's fun to have a toddler in a limo... even if safety wasn't an issue.
Put him in, take photos and take him out!

Re: Toddler in a limo

Please don't put your baby in the limo. It's not safe. Drive him in yourself. If you can't attend for whatever reason have your DH ditch the rest of the party and drive him. It's not a big deal for DH to miss the limo ride.

Yes, the drunk driver driving the wrong way that hit them. OMG that story still gives me chills.
I saw an Oprah segment on it a few years after it happened and the things that were said on it, haunted me.
Her mother and the things she was saying, the way she was acting, you could just tell this poor woman would never ever be the same again.
It was beyond haunting.

That's just what I was going to say.

Personally, I'd never let my children ride in a limo. I'd drive them in their car seats. Just not worth the risk.

Re: Toddler in a limo

And I love how you got "crazy looks" from people for daring to mention a car seat.

Like YOU are the crazy one.

They are the fuking crazy ones if they think a 2 year old should be unrestrained in a vehicle under ANY circumstance.
Ever.
Do people have any common sense? Or is it just pure ignorance and stupidity?

Sorry, shit like this makes me SOOOO angry.

lol I know! I'm normally a really quiet person so I didn't say anything after that, but I'm going to drive him now. Everyone confirmed exactly what I was thinking. Thanks!

Exactly this.
Like having the entire bridal party together in a limo is more important then your child's safety. Please. Unless it's a life or death emergency, no way in hell is my kid in a car without a carseat, ever.

Own car !!! Katie Flynn's death till haunts me. However, they said she was laying in the seat with the seatbelt over her. Regardless, even sitting without a car seat a 2yo would not be safe.

Re: Toddler in a limo

My SIL is getting married in a few weeks and we are all in the bridal party - me, my DH and my 2 little girls are flower girls, and we will be driving them separately in our car instead of going in the limo. I am not sure how that will work out going TO the church (which I literally just realized as I typed this! ugh) but we will figure it out. I told my MIL exactly the same thing... that it's just not safe, and that I can't get the picture of that accident on the Meadowbrook out of my mind.
