Toddler Bed spinoff - early switch

If you switched to a toddler bed early on how did that go? DD hates the crib and I feel like our sleep issues will subside if she is in a bed. I know some people have posted that their kids went into toddler beds shortly after a year but how did that work with learning to walk, getting out of bed, saying in bed etc?

Both my kids switched relatively early. I think 15 mos and 23 mos, respectively. I switched for the same reasons it sounds like you are-- they both hated the crib. Solved some problems, but creates others. They both settled easier, but when my LO wakes up at night he now comes into our room. On the other hand, my older DS would cry in his room for me to come get him, just like with the crib.
One thing you can do is to put a twin mattress on the floor and see how she likes it (the crib mattress was far too small for my kids to settle on). Leave the crib in there in case she changes her mind.

We switched at 2 and it was so easy. I'm not sure I would have done it earlier unless he was a climber. DS was never a good sleeper but now that he is in the twin he sleeps so much better. He is a mover so I think he needed the space.

My nephew was moved at 18months ish. He was a climber and so my sis moved him. But then he would get up in the middle of the night and come in her bed. My DS never did.

15 months for our son, he tried to climb out of the crib so we moved him.
