To those of you with young children...(UPDATE-sort of)
.. those of us withOUT children like to sleep past 9:30 on the weekends - no need to call. Thanks for ruining my blissful slumber.

Perhaps I was a bit hasty and not as well thought out in my post as I could have been and for that I am sorry. What I should have done was specify that the people closest to us, who know our lifestyle, could have been a little more considerate when they decided to call us. It just happens to be that those who DO call us early on the weekends are those who we know well, who have small children and are awake early.
The OP was in no way meant to insult mothers or the way people do things differently on a daily or weekend basis. Again, I am sorry.

I have a young child and I HATE being up on weekends...I get one day to sleep and I try not to get outta bed before 10 (hahahaha) and I always take a morning bap with Bella 
Some people are just morning people...like my DH he was like this way before we had kids.

YES!! That happened to me a few weekends ago- I normally give the "we are on the do not call list, please remove our name and discontinue calling" followed by a hang up... WELL this time it was 8:15ish in the morning on a Saturday- So I just moaned in anger "STOP CALLING- ESPECIALLY ON A SATURDAY MORNING!!" with my head still half buried in the pillow... lol lol !!! I just hit ON, said my piece, and clicked OFF (holding the phone about a foot from my face) hahahaa...
That stinks!!!!!!

As long as "those of you without young children" know not to call us past 9pm (and wake them), or you'll be committed to putting them back to sleep 
nighttime is "my time" for us and that usually means a silent home is our blissful slumber

none of my friends have kids, but they would still call me at the buttcrack. Argh.... just because i don't party all night anymore, doesn't mean that i get up early in the morn' just to sip on coffee and read the morning news (they stopped doing this when i would ask them if it was an emergency, and if they said No, i just hung up)
even on work days... don't assume that i get up when you do- because i don't AND i don't leave myself enough time in the morning to chat, either.

I try to keep the rule of thumb never before 10 am and never after 10 pm. If the person has kids, then I check with them what is best.

Oh I agree with this one. I hate when people call during nap time. The worst is when they sound surprised Oh the baby is sleeping? Did I wake him?

I'm up at 5:30am with the baby on weekends, but I certainly know the rest of the world isn't, so maybe you should redirect your request to stupid people rather than to people with young children. Not all of us are self-centered, ya know.

I agree. I am up early with my kids too. The only person I ever call early (7:30-8am) is my sister because her son gets up early too. I depend the time on the person and how well I know them. Usually 10am if I don't know them that well.
I don't see the point of sleeping my life away anyway if I could. I can't see why people sleep to 2 and 3pm on the weekends. What is the point of having days off if you just sleep through it. I want to do the most I can on my days off.
