Anything that says overnight! Kotex is good but Target brand is very good too, and cheaper.

I have ultra heavy periods, and honestly the first few days of bleeding was like my period, but the rest was honestly less than I normally bleed during my pdChat Icon

I never packed any pads for the hospital. The ones they provided were sufficient.

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

I packed a couple of Always Overnight for the hospital but I used the pads they have there the entire time. I tend to bleed very heavy for the first week and the ones they have at the hospital work well.

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

I used always overnight. I rec the ones with wings. I'm so glad I brought my own. I changed it everytime I went to the bathroom so bring a whole bunch. You'd rather have extra than not enough

Use the ones the hospital gives you, and the mesh undies!

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

I have to be honest.. I used the pads from the hospital plus their mesh undies & once my pads became soaked they became heavy & would slide all over the place & became messy. The mesh undies are loose, not tight so they don't keep the pads in place very well.
Once I got home, I made DH get me a small bag of depends & I placed pads inside them to avoid the messiness. I only really bled heavy or the first 10 days & then I just used regular kotex pads on their own.

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

Grab all you can from the hospital. Put them in your bag each day you are there and ask for more when you leave.

this might sound ridiculous but i wore depends and lined it with two pads.....so was essentially wearing a diaper lined with pads. the depends also came in handy since my water broke at home....so i wore a diaper going IN to the hospital and coming OUT of the hospital!!! ah- the joys of motherhood.

I swore by the always infinity overnights. They were SOOO thin and ultra absorbent! I HATED the hospital ones. They were soooo thick and I felt like I was wearing a diaper.

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

I used the hospital ones at the hospital but I hated them. At home, I started using Always Infinity and they were awesome!! I used the overnights for overnight and the next heaviest for daytime. My flow did not change that much in the two days from the hospital to home so the Infinity pads could've handled it from the get-go and next time around, I will not be using the hospital pads - sooo bulky and uncomfortable!! Like you need any more discomfort at that point!

Some people do love the hospital pads so bring some with you, try out the hospital pads, and if you hate them, at least you have a back-up.

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

I would have died without my depends disposable underwear. The mesh panties and pads from north shore STUNK (which is why they also lay u on 10 weewee pads, lol).

FYI u can order a free sample on their website.

ETA I did not put pads in the depends like some pps. I found just the depends sufficient and changed it when I went to the bathroom.

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

I LIVED in my Depends underwear for about a week afterwards. I did put pads in it the first few day so I didn't have to always change the underwear but I HIGHLY recommend Depends.

BTW, not all hospitals provide the mesh underwear - Huntington doesn't so bring your own if you aren't going to wear Depends.

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

Overnight with wings by Stayfree were my option, however I LOVED the pads at the hospital. I had an episiotomy and I was so sore and bled a lot. The hospital pads I used had built in ice packs. I won't get into everything I had to do to care for myself in that regard, but when I switched to regular pads, I missed the hospital ones. I think it depends on the condition you are in.

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

I WISH I thought of or heard of using depends at the time! That would have saved me SO much time and effort. I bought cheap undies that I felt fine throwing out and briefs to help hold the pads in placeChat Icon

Re: TMI - pads post delivery

Use the ones they give you in the hospital and steal a bunch more! They are awesome! After a few days, the bleeding slows a lot, and I used Kotex Overnights. Now I just use whatever because it is very light.
