Time between birth control and TTC?
FH and I want to start TTC in the late spring, right before our wedding. I'm on the pill right now. I've heard mixed things - that you should wait a few months to regulate but also that you're most fertile right after you come off.
What did you ladies do? Start trying right away or did you wait a little bit?
ETA: If I were to stay on the pill right up until the time we're ready to start trying, it would be about 1 1/2 years.

Re: Time between birth control and TTC?
I originally planned to go off the pill 3 months before TTC to give my body a chance to regulate. But, then we decided to wing it those 3 months. I had a very long cycle (50+ days) and got pregnant that first cycle off the pill. Healthy full term pregnancy.

Wait... I know that there are those who didn't and had successful pregnancies, but I've heard more (and have experienced first hand) the opposite. Give your body a few cycles to get readjusted.

Time between birth control and TTC?
I was always told that the pill is out of your body pretty much right after stopping, so I don't think it matters. I started trying right after I went off 2 years ago and I'm still not pregnant. I would stop it when you are ready to conceive, it could happen right away or it could take a long time, you just never know.

I always thought you were supposed to wait a couple of cycles, but not sure if that's right.

Re: Time between birth control and TTC?
There's no medical reason to wait. The only thing is your cycles might be irregular for a while. So you might ovulate later than you're used to (on day 23, say, instead of day 14) so if you do get pregnant and go to the doctor for your 8-week ultrasound you might be sorely disappointed / think something is wrong (when it's actually a healthy, 6-week baby). Or, if you don't get pregnant, you might think that you are and keep taking tests because your periods are 40 days apart. Both of these problems can be avoided if you temp in the mornings to figure out when you've ovulated.
This doesn't happen to everyone, btw. I have hormonal imbalances and I'm MORE regular after stopping the Pill. My RE (fertility doctor) told me that many women are most fertile after coming off of it.

Re: Time between birth control and TTC?
I came off the pill and started TTC immediately. My first cycle was irregular and we missed our window. The next cycle I used an ovulation test and got a pregnant that month and had a full term successful pregnancy.
My doctor told me the first few months you're off the pill you'll be the most fertile. I believe this was true in my case. I would say don't wait but expect that your first few cycles may be irregular and you may have to test to see when you're ovulating.

Re: Time between birth control and TTC?
I came off the pill in Dec. 2013. Got my first AF in Feb. Started TTC right after and I got pregnant first try. It did end in a miscarriage though. Tried again in April, got pregnant first shot but ended up with a blighted ovum. Since my D&C in late May, I have been trying without success so I agree 100% that you are more fertile right after the pill.

Time between birth control and TTC?
We waited two months, really three because I was away on business the third month. I have a heard stories going both ways - conceived right after coming off BC and had a full term healthy pregnancy and conceived right after and ended in MC or Chemical. I guess there is no right answer, just do whatever you are most comfortable with. I personally didn't want to chance it so we waited a few months, plus I took that time to learn my cycle. I came off the end of December conceived in June-July. Good luck to you. :)

Re: Time between birth control and TTC?
Since you are talking about your wedding, I would stay on BC until your ready to start trying. I know MANY people who went off BC to regulate and got pregnant immediately.

Time between birth control and TTC?
My doctor told me there was never any medical reason to wait only that my periods may be somewhat irregular immediately coming off of it.
I came off the pill in May, and ended up getting pregnant in July. My dd is a perfectly healthy 3 year old.
