Those who lost the baby weight...

How did you do it, how long did it take you and how old was DC when you started trying? I FINALLY did it and am trying to keep going, but I would love to know what other moms have done. Doing a little research here.

I didn't even bother trying until after I finished BFing since I thought it would help keep up my supply if I kept a little chunk on and if I kept eating ice cream. Chat Icon

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

honestly I did nothing in an attempt to lose the weight, I kept saying I was going to but just never could get on track. So it took me just under 1 year.

Now my NY resolution is to start exercising because although I am the same weight my body is sooo different!

They were 6 & 4 when I lost the weight.Chat Icon

The motivating factor was trying to keep a healthier life style so they model what they see.

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

First, I gave birth to a really big baby.

Then, I got sick in the hospital and didn't eat for 3 days as well as other TMI side effects that made food out of the question.

That took care of 30 lbs.

Then, 5 months later I had to fire my evil cow of a babysitter and I couldn't eat from all the stress. That took care of another 15 lbs.

Other than that, I haven't really done much to lose weight.

I plan to actually start an exercise routine one of these days (pilates), hopefully next week. Chat Icon

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

I honestly didn't do too much early on, and lost the weight naturally...I guess I got lucky!
Then I started going back to the gym and really made time for it. I got a trainer for a bit before vacation and now I need to get my butt back to the gym again!!!
And like you, lifting a 28 pound 14 month old that isn't walking yet has given me She-Ra biceps!!!!!

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

i just joined ww!

actually, let me correct myself. For some reason all that I gained in the pregnancy came off automatically within the first 2 weeks. I joined WW now bc I was overweight before I got pregnant

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

At 10 weeks PP I am now 2 lbs under my pre pregnany weight. I had a C Section so I couldn't work out for 6 weeks and to be honest, those 6 weeks did not watch what I ate either. I lucked out and lost most of it right away ( I also had a big 9lbs 9 oz baby). The rest I lost when i went back to the gym at 6 wks PP. I've been working out and eating small, healthy portions to loose more weight now because I went into pregnancy being a lot heavier than I normally am.

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

I can't say I have had to lose weight b/c luckily I only gained 17 lbs (but lost 27 after hte delivery). But if I did have to I would use WW for sure. It works great, takes some dedication but works great. I also plan to lose about 15 lbs that I had on before the pg, so I plan to use WW when I get the head.

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

I think BFing and watching what I ate were the big helpers for me. I gained 24 lbs during the entire pg. When I left the hospital I had lost a whoping 8 lbs.Chat Icon DS making up 7 lbs 14 oz. I lost all of the pg weight at 10 weeks pp. I am still overweight and really need to loose some weight b/c I was overweight before I was PG with DS. I think that it is just portion control coupled with exercise. Good luck.

That's what happened with my first. I'm almost approaching the 3 month mark now and I'm almost at my goal.

A year after I had Jared I was too skinny (10 pounds below my regular weight) and had to gain a little to look "normal" again.
I know, I know...poor me.Chat Icon But I really wasn't healthy (or healthy looking)at that weight.

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

I started right away. I didn't gain much, and I lost it all within the first 2 weeks PP (maybe 7lbs or so).

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

I'll comment about my first since here we are 10.5mths later with #2 and I gained more weight than ever in my life... I'm trying though.
Anyway, with #1 I lost pregnancy and then a lot more. I am skinny to begin with and lost way too much. I was walking 3mls. + a day plus breast feeding. I don't walk or excersie or BF with #2. So I gained! Anyway, I just kept active and ate right, the usual...

Re: Those who lost the baby weight...

I gained 37lbs with my first pregnancy. Over 20 of that came off within the first 6 weeks with no effort from me. I started going to WW around 8 weeks PP I think it was. Within 2 months, I had lost 10lbs & I decided that was good enough for me so I stopped actively trying to lose weight. So I guess about 4 months I was just about my pre-pregnancy weight.

I breastfed for 2 years though, so I think that helped the weight come off quickly.
