This is hard. {update #2 - thursday}
After trying for a year & a half to get pregnant, and finally having success with the help of a RE, I always told myself I wouldn't complain about pregnancy. I am so grateful for our 2 miracles and can't wait for them to arrive.
I'm 19 weeks and have a loooong way to go.
In the past few weeks, I have been feeling so much pressure its been hard to even walk. And it feels like so many unfortunate pregnancy symptoms have been thrown my way in a few short weeks.
At 16 weeks my cervix was short, so I was put on Modified Activity for a week and given Prometrium (progesterone) that would hopefully help.
At 17 weeks, my cervix had gotten shorter I had cerclage stitches ... basically an emergency procedure scheduled for the day after my Dr. appointment. That was such a terrifying experience for me but I am very grateful for Nayia for helping me get through it over FMs. I know it had to be done to keep the babies cooking longer, and hopefully to keep me off permanent bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy.
At 18 1/2 weeks, I developed a really awful hemmie. When the PA at my OBs office checked it out, she even said "Wow, that's a bad one ... that's gonna cause some pain!" I know its common during pregnancy, but it feels like this is pretty early on to go through this. I'm so uncomfortable and in so much pain. Plain water burns, Tucks Pads burn, Sitz Baths make me want to scream. Standing hurts. Sitting hurts. I got a script for a hydro-cortisone cream that hasn't helped at all. The only thing that helps at all right now is ice. So now I have to go see a colorectal specialist.
I know the reward at the end will all be worth it, but man .... this is HARD!
UPDATE - Tuesday Night Thank you so much for all the kind words, sympathy and advice gals - I love you all!!!
After negotiating with the receptionist and getting to understand the pain I'm in, she was able to get me into see a Dr. in the office tomorrow morning ... instead of 3 weeks from now like she started out suggesting! I'll keep you updated.
UPDATE - Thursday Yesterday's appointment with the colorectal specialist was ... ummm ... PAINFUL!!!!!!! My options were a different cream that he said probably wouldn't help or for him to slice it open and drain it. Owwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Wouldn't wish that or the recovery on anyone.
Unfortunately I did have to reschedule the Level II sono that was scheduled for yesterday afternoon, because I needed to go home, take pain meds and lay down for 8 hours. So its now going to be on Monday instead, and I should be feeling like a human again by then.
The good news is that I'm very very slowly starting to feel less pain from the hemmie & the procedure.
I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't have the sono but I'd much rather be able to enjoy the appointment. Can't wait to find out what our are!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: This is hard.
Awww Jess, this is like the "perfect storm" of discomfort, don't feel bad for complaining!!! The fact that you worked hard to get here doesn't lessen the real true physical discomfort, so it's MORE than legitimate to complain a little.
I had roid rage too at the verrrrry end of the game and it was AWWWWFUL If ice helps then that's what you must do sweetie!!! Hang in there, things WILL get better and you'll have days ahead where you feel great!!!

I also think it's hard for us first time mom's to know the true blessing of the prize at the end of the tunnel.
I know it's going to be amazing beyond words, and I know I will do it over again in a heartbeat once I meet my baby.
But right now since I have nothing to compare it to, It's pretty rough.

Re: This is hard.
I hated being pregnant, I had hyperemesis, lost 30 lbs in 8 weeks, bleeding scare, she threw out 2 discs in m back and herniated them so I woke up covered in pee in the middle of the night since I lost bladder control and it got worse and worse......... I know how bad it can suck but it will pass.
Hopefully the colorectal dr. can help, maybe they can treat it now? If not keep your mind on the prize and if your journey is so hard it must mean that you are working for a really good prize or in your case Prizes!

It def is hard!!and when u have so many thing happening to you all at once its hard to swallow it and not complain a little. We are all here to help each other out and vent and comfort one another.
Dont forget that your body is doing double the work carrying twins. U might be 19 weeks but ur body thinks u are further along and unfortunately the symptoms come quicker.
hang in there luv!!!! U know u can always FM me if u need to vent or talk.

ITA. Don't feel guilty about having these feelings, you're going through a lot
I developed an AWFUL case of roids from pushing during labor of my first DC. The pain from the stitches I had due to my episiotomy were NOTHING in comparison. It was so bad I was crying. The L&D nurses gave me Dibucaine (sp?) ointment and Dermoplast spray. The spray was a lifesaver because 1. you didn't have to touch them (sorry for the TMI) which in and of itself caused so much pain, and 2. it would instantaneously numb the area. Total lifesaver. I also used an eggcrate cushion everytime I sat on a chair. HTH!
