Yes, I planned it around the school year. I got pg in July and had her in March...I wanted as much time off as possible. I had to go back for 2 weeks in June. But in the end I had 5 months off with her. Chat Icon

I really don't want to take a break until next summer.. but I just don't think we can afford the leave without pay. Do you get any pay for leave? I get none and it really sux.

I dont get any pay for leaving either...It really stinks...

we are planning to start in the fall that way maybe we would have an early summer baby... unfortunately we cant afford for me to really take off and im in charge of some senior events at the end of the school year and would hate to miss it or leave it for someone else... but when it ihappens it happens...

I work for an online company. We sell to the public and therefore Christmas is an extremely busy season. I am hoping to get pg by September this way I'll be able to work this Christmas and then be back in time for Christmas 2008.

You can use sick time though, no?

It is my understanding that yes you can use sick time but only for the 6-8 weeks of maternity leave. After that you don't get paid. Not sure if it is the same everywhere but that is the way it is in my district.

We are going to start trying in Sept and hope for an early summer baby and then I would take the following year off from school. I want to try to finish out the school year so that I can finish with my students. Like you have previously posted it may not work out like that so I will deal with that when the time comes. Everything happens for a reason, so I will take it from there!!!

I kept putting it off TTC to wait now we are in our 2nd month and time is falling short. I don't care when I am due just as long as I hear the words PREGNANT I would be happy at this point. As with everyone as long as it is healthy but I learned after month one this is not easy stuff here...I feel crazy Chat Icon sometimes with all this TTC, BDing, fetility lingo LOL

Not a teacher, but I work in a school and am on the school calendar. I am really hoping to get pg anywhere from now to september/october, for an April - June delivery. I started ttc a few months back though b/c I assumed it wouldn't happen right away and, well, it unfortunately hasn't. I am trying to loosely plan, but will definitely be thrilled to see a BFP no matter when the due date is! Chat Icon to all.

not sure if you can do this in NY, but in NC you can take short term disability if you have a baby during the school year and don't have the sick time and can't afford to not get paid.
