Re: taking down xmas decor?

I like to take everything down on January 1st.

Since we just moved to this house and didn't get a tree until Christmas eveI'm not in a rush to take anything down yet.

I didn't put too much up. I will take it down next weekend or when the real tree dies.

Re: taking down xmas decor?

We had nothing up at all because we just moved and we got some Christmas decorations as gifts so I just put a few things out today actually! Talk about lagging behind! Chat Icon Chat Icon I just put up a few candles and statues though so those will probably come down at the end of this week. Typically I wait until after the new year to take things down.

Re: taking down xmas decor?

I took the tree down yesterday. I couldn't take it, with all the stuff that DD got, we could barely walk in the living room. The stuff on the mantle is still up, and will be for a few more days.

I usually wait until New Years Day (or the day after, depending on how I'm feeling Chat Icon ) but this year, it'll be all down early this week.

We took the tree down last night because it fell over for the second time. Off to the curb it went!

Re: taking down xmas decor?

I start taking down my Christmas decorations right after the Epiphany and usually have everything put away by the middle of January. I figure that if it's okay to have it up for so many weeks before Christmas, that I shouldn't have to rush to take it down as soon as Christmas is over.

Usually a couple days after New Years. I love my decorations and the lights create a perfect ambiance in the living room. I hate taking them downChat Icon

Since DD was born I take it down a day or 2 after New Years. Her birthday is January 9th & I want that day to be for her & not mixed in with the Holidays.

We *just* put ours up on the 19th, so nothing's coming down until after Three Kings Day (the Epiphany).

I usually leave it up until after Little Christmas but since New Year's Day is on a Friday after this year I'm thinking about doing it next weekend.

Re: taking down xmas decor?

i took mine down the 26th. when i moved in, i just stuck the tree up instead of throwing it in the attic. i didn't put balls on it or anything. very few other things were hung on the nails that were left in the wall from previous owner. with the move and the stress of that, and wrapping on christmas eve until 4AM, i didn't have much Christmas spirit.

can ya tell?

Who am i kidding? DH says "can you leave Christmas up for a little while this year?"
I put it up in the beginning of december, regularly, then by the weekend after Christmas, it's gone. i do a good cleaning and it feels amazing.
bah humbug, i guess?

Re: taking down xmas decor?

It's going to be Christmas season again in another 11 months or so, so why bother taking anything down at all? If you leave it all up, it saves time next year.... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'll probably take ours down just after NYE. I don't want to have to think about it after I go back to work.
