Summer Schedule for SAHM
Do you designate certain days to certain things? How do you provide structure to your days?
For instance, on Pinterest, I saw something like Make something Monday, Library time Tuesday, Wander somewhere new Wednesday,...you get the gist.
What do you do?

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
haha nope! I'm not that organized LOL im a SAHM and my son is 3.5 years old. what I DO try to do is get out somewhere every day. whether its just to some stores, a playdate, the playground, the library. I buy groupons to local kids play places or whatever when I see them, so I always have a couple of those I can use. I live in NJ and theres a farm that has a lot of stuff for the kids, so I usually buy the family membership for that so I can take him there whenever. basically I just what kind of mood hes in the mornings and go from there HAHA

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
I was thinking this the other day when I realized for the 6 weeks I have been home that time just flies by and I don't have anything done. Just getting out of the house is an accomplishment for me. I would love to hear some schedules

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
No. One of the things I like about being home is I can do what I want when I want. So, unless it's something I've planned in advance, like signing Dd up for a library class a week in advance, I tend to decide what I want to do the night before or the morning of depending on DDs/DSs moods. If I had a schedule like that Pinterst one, it would stress me out.

Same for me. Everything depends on the weather too. I take it day by day but I have an idea in my head of what we should do.

Not a SAHM but I agree with that. If I had summers off, the last thing I'd want is a schedule . I have enough of that at work. Pinterest annoys the shitt out of me sometimes.

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
We just wing it. My older DS will be going to camp a couple of weeks but my little one will be with me the whole time. My loose plan right now is this... DS finishes school and has a week off, we will do play dates, BBQ, pool, maybe the zoo- I always buy a pass. Then I'm taking the kids to Williamsburg for a week. Then older DS will be in town camp for 2 weeks. My little guy and I will probably go to the gym a few times a week, attend the free town sports on Tuesday mornings at the park, play dates, poll, zoo. Then my older DS has two weeks off. I plan on doing some day trips to Lake Compounce, the zoo, pool, play dates. Maybe a couple days away. The older DS goes to sports camp for a week. And we'll just do more of the same. My younger DS is really easy to please and just goes with the flow. It's my older one that needs more entertaining and planning.

My summer schedule goes something like this: Prevent kids from killing one another. Prevent myself from killing us all. Go to the beach occasionally.

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
But aside from that, I don't make a schedule. Never have. I tried once I became a SAHM, but it never took. So, they'll go to camp for three or four weeks (the older two anyway), we'll be on vacation at least two or three weeks, and then I try and make it a point to go somewhere most days...park, picnics, beach, playdate, zoo, farm, etc.

Love it!!
No schedule either. I am far from a pintrist mom. LOL! I work at home so it's hard to plan days. DS1 will be in school this summer everyday and DS2 will be in the preschool camp program for 3 days a week. Hope to go to GA a few times this summer, beach, local parks, play dates, weekend trips here and there and friends over in the backyard to swim and grill. Also, get some use of the swing set we got last year.

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
I have a general plan for the summer. So things I want to get done. Places I want to take my kids. Things I want to do.
This summer I would like to go to Dorney Park/Wild Water Kingdom with the kids. We are also going to take a trip. So I need to plan that and map out everything we are going to do.
I have things that I want to do for the house. I need to clean the siding and the windows from the outside.
I would like to go to the gym and the pool.
I also need to get stuff done for the house in general.

When I'm home for the summer it's this...there are things I am to do during nap (quiet) times, etc. We like to make it to the pool/beach (not sure about the beach this summer unless someone watches DS) and activities like free/cheap concerts and museums/playplaces, etc...but I never make a crazy schedule..instead, I try to make plans with people and that makes us get out and do things, too..

No plans at all except for scheduled stuff. The girls are each taking a gymnastics & swimming classes over the summer so obviously that will be scheduled over than that I wing it! One of the great parts to being a sahm is not being on a schedule!!!

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
I don't stick to a strict schedule over the summer. To me the summer is about doing what we want each day. I do have a few scheduled activities for each child every week but aside from that we just do our own thing.

This exactly. Except I loathe the beach lol so it's more like the occasional play date if friends are around. I wish I could afford to send them to camp a few days a week :( but some of these camps are the same money to send them a few weeks in the summer than it is for a whole year of school!

Yeah I agree. A schedule like that doesn't sound like a good time to me at all. I just get by day by day !'

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
Well both will do 4 weeks of camp/summer enrichment. 3 hrs 5 days. But then on nice days I will pack them up and pack lunch and take them to the pool.
When camp is out. We don't have a set schedule per se but I try to have something to do most days. We will go to the pool a lot but I try to plan trips with our memberships...so..natural history museum, LICM, cradle of aviation, zoos, and a few trips to the beach. I figure out generally what we want to do for the week, then based on the weather will see what order we do those activities. I find my kids don't do well when we are around the house. So I try to be out as much as possible.

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
I AMA teacher so when I'm home, I need some sort of structure after being in classroom all year. I don't designate days for things but it's more like structure in the a.m. Like breakfast, get dressed, make beds, a few more chores, then go out. Household stuff stresses me soi need to be on top of that before I can think of anything else.

Summer Schedule for SAHM
The only schedule I have is a power hour at night of cleaning, preparing for next day. We are huge beach bums. So making sure lunch is packed and car is ready. Academically, there will be a checklist dictating if the TV is going on the next day,

Pinterest - making mom's feel inadequate since 2010!
Seriously though, schedules are one thing, but with kids flexibility is extremely important. I'm not a schedule girl, never have been. I play things by ear and unless I have swim or gym scheduled is a day to day adventure.

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
I will prob do some of the same things I so during the year. Since I am a SAHM it is all kind of the same. Play dates, lunch out, pool with mom/friends, possibly classes like zumbini, jcc, music, etc. Also, I am in numerous play groups, so that will prob continue too.

Re: Summer Schedule for SAHM
Get out of the house at least once a day
Go to the park for walks and baby swings
Music class once a week. Mommy and me class once a week. Meet friends at the mall to walk around, grab Starbucks. Library classes when they're offered.
Other than that keeping baby alive, happy, fed and clean....
