If they really wanted to protect the environment they would ban them.
Straight up ban.
You forgot your reusable bag? Too bad, so sad, carry your shit out in your arms.
Or buy a nice reusable bag right here at the register for whatever the price is and use it next time too.
Being able to buy one for a very insignificant amount of money doesn't help. If I forget my reusable bag I just pay the 5 cents a bag. I don't like it but it doesn't hurt me.
As long as they are still manufacturing and using these bags in stores- whether it be for free or for 5 cents or 10 cents or even 20 cents, they are out there and ending up in the ocean and landfills eventually

True and other places have banned them with success. My sister's town did this almost a decade ago. In the meantime, I do think many more people are using reusable which is a good step and if stores are putting the extra 5 cents toward more expensive paper bags then to me that's a positive too.

I hate when a cashier hands my change back to me balancing the coins on top of the dollars in a precarious way. They inevitably drop it, or I do, because it's this unwieldy stack of dollars and multiple coins.
I don't understand it. Just put the coins in my hand, then hand me the dollars. That is how I did it when I was a cashier as a teenager.
I also hate it when people barge into an elevator or a train or a subway car or wherever without letting the exiting people get off first. I think that is a universal pet peeve, but so many people do it!

I was just in Auto Zone the other day, and there was a sign saying they will no longer have plastic bags.

See, i always thought cashiers did this because it prevents the paper money from dropping out of your hands, like the coins help anchor it to the hand.
no matter what, its always awkward though!

I will tell you what pisses me off. We just returned from a fab trip to Southern Florida on the ocean with a large group of family/friends. I was absolutely disgusted by how the "older" people down there treat kids. We literally had just walked down to the pool of a family member and this old crochety man was like "well there goes MY peace and quiet", and the kids hadn't even said two words at that point! That same attitude carried on throughout the day with many of the older folks. This was NOT a 55 and older! I hope I'm not miserable like that when I'm 75 Couldn't wait to get back to our hotel pool

That, and the guy I used to work with who would comment about the calories/fat etc of things people were eating. I can't stand that - Yes, I am a grown woman and am making informed choices, thank you very much! Don't need you to monitor my calorie intake

Well, she did say “People that don’t work and their kids are in school all day.” I’m not sure who else that could apply to...lol.
But maybe they’re happy because they don’t have to run to after school activities, or help with homework, or maybe they don’t cook on the weekends, or they like to kick back with some drinks, or they’re lonely all week and can’t wait to hang out with their kids, or their husbands (or wives) work a lot and they can finally relax and spend some time with them on the weekends, or maybe they have a party or a short weekend trip planned, or... or... or...
So, I’ve been off all week and I say TGIF to all of you!

Exactly. I’m currently unemployed, but I can’t get into that here.
I look forward to the weekend because I don’t have paperwork to do or offices to visit or phone calls to make. It’s not like I sit around and do nothing.
