STTN?

When did your child begin to STTN?
My baby is 10 weeks old today and will usually give me a 5 to 6 hour stretch, once in a blue moon 7 hours. I am hearing everyone say that their baby was sleeping through the night by 8 and 9 weeks. Im wondering for those who had their baby sleep through the night earlier what type of schedule they kept. Ive been feeding DS on demand everything 3-4.5 hours during the day.
He has been eating about 25 oz's a day. TIA

Both of my kids were STTN at 8 weeks. (10-12 hrs).

I just followed their lead and slowly increased the formula as needed. During the day they ate every 3 hrs. They were both around 6oz bottles at the time they started STTN.

ETA: we stopped giving ds a middle of the night bottle at 6 months. He just kept waking for other reasons.

A little over 4 months dd will go 10-11 hours, wake up and get a bottle and go back to sleep for another 1-2 hours. I didn't change anything with her feeding until after she did this bc I was concerned some days she would only get 4 bottles. She now gets 7oz every 4 hours.

Every baby is diff. My friend claims her baby has slept 10-12 hours since 6 weeks. I also had a new mom tell me that her baby slept 10 hours since 8 weeks from 8pm to 3am, but that's not exactly 10 hours but thanks for playing. Some moms get so competitive. Who cares?

Formula fed babies tend to sleep through the night sooner than BF babies. My DD is BF and started sleeping through the night (2-3 times a week) when we started using the miracle blanket around 5-6 weeks. Now at 3 months she still isn't sleeping through the night consistently, maybe 3 nights a week she will get up for a feeding and then fall right back asleep.

I would also define sleeping through the night any time DD slept over a 6 hour stretch.

11-430 at 8 weeks then 730-430 at 10 weeks then 730-630/7 at 12 weeks. We did nothing she did it herself. Once she started to sleep almost 11hrs no matter when her last bottle was she needs to be topped off right before bed or she wakes up starving. My nephew still at 7 months wakes up every 3hrs. My niece didn't sttn till 2yrs old. Every baby is different.

Your baby sounds totally normal. 5, 6 or 7 hours actually is considered sttn at 10 weeks old. And quite frankly, a lot of mommies would give anything to get that much sleep at 10w!

DS started sttn around 11 weeks, but not consistently, and that was 7 hours (10pm-5am). So your baby sounds right on track. Most babies are capable of sttn by 6 months. 8 or 9 weeks is extremely rare.

Also, feeding every 3.5-4 hours during the day is totally normal.

At 2 months DD slept from 9pm until 5 or 6am with a dream feed. My mother told everyone on the planet how amazing it was she sttn at such a young age even though she was ebf and I kept telling her to stop bc she was going to jinx it! Well after 6 weeks of bliss she started waking again and didn't sttn consistently again until 16 months!

I realize now that every baby is different and there is no use comparing them! Your baby sounds like he is doing great! 5-6 hours at night at 10 weeks sounds right on track.

I stopped nursing him at night around 7-8 months, but he was still getting up for the day around 4 am.

4 weeks he started 5-6 hour stretches. At 7 weeks he started sleeping 8 hours.
I also fed on demand- he was formula fed. I gave a larger bottle before bed and I think that helped hold him over. He actually started sleeping longer when we transitioned him from our room (in the RnP) to his crib- this was at 7 weeks.

Ds#1 was 8-9 weeks. This time, DS#2 is almost 19 weeks and still not STTN. DS #2 is EBF. About a month ago we was giving us 5-6 hours a few times, but he got a cough and even though he's not waking himself up with it anymore he's doing about 4 maybe 5 and then up to feed and back down for 1-3 more.
I knew I was spoiled with DS#1 but just didn't realize how exhausted I'd be now!!

Around 8 months or so he would go for more than 4 hours without waking. He slept a good 8 hour stretch at around 10 months or so. Still trying to catch up on all the sleep I lost!!!

DS usually sleeps from about midnight until 7 am. Not sure if this is considered sttn? How many hours does it have to be to be considered sttn? He's been doing a 6-7 hour stretch most nights since he was about 2.5-3 months old. The longest he ever did was a 10 hour stretch, but he only did it once. I'm hoping his sleep will lengthen as he gets older.

7 weeks she would give us 8 hours. By 12 weeks she was doing 12 hours. She was formula fed so I feel that helped. I also followed the book 12 hours sleep by 12 weeks old

21 months for both my girls. And that is why I didn't have a third!

By 8 weeks she did 6 hours, by 12 weeks she did 8 hours and by 6 months she did 11-12 hours. Every baby is different!
