If you are comfortable with who you are leaving them with, then GO and have fun

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
You are struggling with the decision now, just thinking about it so imagine on the trip. I personally couldn't do it. DD is so attached me I can't do a vacation without her and even DH. It wouldn't be fun for us. But that's just us..

Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
Posted by Salason
For 4 days at those ages? 100% I would go. Especially to Paris. If it were a boring location maybe I wouldnt think it was worth it but I would absolutely go to Paris.
I totally agree!!! This is coming from someone who up until now, hasn't felt comfortable enough to left her two kids (3 and 1) for more than one night. But for Paris? I would definitely go as long as you trust the level of care they'd receive from their grandparents, of course.

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
We went to Ireland alone and my boys, ages 4 and 2 at the time, stayed with my parents. It was great!!
My boys had a blast with their grandparents, and we had fun as a couple. Sleeping in, meals at nice restaurants, shopping/sightseeing without screaming toddlers.

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
Me personally, I would go.
DH and I have taken two solo 5 day trips.
I have no issues leaving DS with his grandparents who adore him.

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
I guess its all dependent how you feel and what you are comfortable with and your parenting style.
My sister would never leave. I on the other hand believe Dh and I deserve some alone time and vacations with out DS.
I just left him for 4 days to go to Cali and vegas. Last year we left him for a week to go on a cruise. I missed him terribly but had a great time with my husband.
And in the 2 years I had my son he has been to Poconos, FL, Aruba & on cruise that went to Jamaica, Haiti, Mexico and Honduras and he will be going with us to Hawaii if we go. So if I was you I wouldnt hesistate as long as he was with someone i trusted. I mean life is short and anything can happen. I dont spend my life thinking like that.

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
May be in the minority but I would go. This past September DH got a trip.from work to Rome. We left the boys, then 3 & 2 with my parents at our house. We were gone 5 days & I called home daily to check in. I knew this was s trip of a lifetime & my boys would not remember we were gone. It worked out fine & I would do it again. We all need time with just the hubby.
We are actually scheduled to go to Barcelona in Tue fall again with hid company.

Heck yeah, I'd go!
I assume you're leaving them with someone you love and trust. So they'll be fine. Paris is amazing, and you're only going for 4 days, not 2 weeks. You'll have a great time. You should get to have a fun, interesting life away from your kids every now and then.

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
Go. My parents went on vacations alone when I was young (Monte Carlo, California, Hawaii) and left my sister and I with our grandparents. Im not scarred. I truly think there is a BIG difference between a "family" vacation and a real, relaxing vacation where you arent running after your kids, and I think both are important to take if you can.

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
I personally would not got..I would not want to be that far from my kids - especially for emergency situation. I also have this fear that if we both go and something happens my kids will have no parents (I am crazy..I know) and they are so young they wouldn't ever remember us. We travel a lot, and we always go to places with kid clubs so we get a break - have dinners alone, etc. but the kids are with us. But -it is totally up to you. I am a working parent and travel for work also, so another reason why I don't want to leave them.

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
I would go. I would be hysterical in the days leading up to it. I would probably think about running off the plane before it departed. But I would get through it and go. It is not selfish to want to do this. Your kids won't even remember or think about you being gone most of the time. You are lucky enough to have someone you trust to care for your kids. That's a gift. Take it. Believe me, you won't regret seeing Paris. You might however regret NOT seeing Paris. Don't let fear guide your life.

I would go!
I also trust my family 100% to take excellent care of my girls.
I am sure I would miss them but I would welcome the opportunity to spend time alone with DH.

Re: Struggling with leaving the boys to go to Paris
DH and I went to Paris and Lyon for 9 days. We left our toddler with my mom...I was presenting in a conference, it was all paid and it was not worth it to go for a couple of days so we added a little vaca on to it. That night we left her I cried...on the trip I enjoyed my child-free time. Towards the end of the trip I was REALLY wanting DD and it was great to come home. Do it if you mentally *can* do it

DH's conference is also in Lyon. I told DH last night that I did not want to go. Maybe i will change my mind once the date gets closer.
DH's trip will also be all paid for. We would have to pay for Paris of course.
