how about the stop and shop in oceanside on Atlantic? Or the one in Farmingdale, just off 109? (the new HUGE one) do they have the guns? I've never seen this 
At this point, it's probably easier to list the Stop & Shops that don't have it. I know they rolled it out to a huge majority of their Suffolk stores. The only two I know that don't have it are Coram and Islandia.
I have no clue about Nassau, though.

I think if you goto the stop and shop website if you search for your stop and shop under the list of that specific store's 'features' (florist, pharmacy) it will list 'scan-it' if it is available at that store.
What I love is the deli kiosks. I'll never wait for my cold cut order again. Even if I'm person number 1 I'll still use the machine so I can do other stuff while they are cutting.

It's not up to date, my store and some others have had them since the spring, but they're not listed as having them.

I will not go to a grocery store that DOES NOT have the self scanners. I like the freedom to scan & pack my own stuff as I shop. Plus I see a running total at all times & you get special coupons from using it. I have Bern audited several times, but notice you get audited more if you purchase medicines, household cleaners & personal hygiene

You use them to scan as you go, It's a big PITA if you have lots of produce. I also learned that they do these random audits, like, kind of often, and it completely defeats the purpose. There have been so many times when we had to unload all our stuff out of the bags and repack it so she could verify that we scanned everything.
We're back to doing it the old-fashioned way unless it's just a few things.

Dont know if thus helps anyone, but you can download the scan it app on your phone now (iphone or android so now you never have to be without a scanner.

Oceanside has it. It's on the right when you walk in (using entrance closest to customer service desk). I wouldn't shop any other way!

Wow now that I have read this whole thread - ty for the tips!!
I didn't know you could use the self checkout if you had a cartful! That makes me soooo happy!! You can also go to customer service, which rocks when all of the lines are long.
Coupons - the self-check out can't do bottle return or free coupons, self scan or not. the person watching the self checkout can do them for you, though. FYI
With the produce - when you are weighing it, you can also key in the number that is on the sticker of it - so much quicker than scrolling through to find the right thing.

Well, I think it depends on how many items and if you are prescanned.
While it's not technically against the rules to do the self-checkout on a non-express self-register, i'm sure you'll hear lots of mumbling and grumbling. If I'm prescanned and I have 50 items, I'll still go on express. Because it's one scan. I'm done quicker than the person that has 4 items.
Once I was behind some guy that had a total of 40 something dollars. He paid for it, in cash. All singles. Stood there and fed in 40 singles. It was crazy...
