Re: Stomach sleepers

I started sleeping Rylan on his belly at about 6 weeks. It was the only way he would sleep.

Re: Stomach sleepers

We let DD start sleeping on her tummy around 12 weeks. It's the only way she ever slept more than a couple of hours. Now at almost 18 months she still sleeps on her tummy 90% of the time.

I agree with PP, tight sheets, no toys, no blankets. I even removed bumpers because DD would always scooch up into the corners.

So it seemed to work. I called my aunt who works as a pediatric doctor and she FREAKED out on me. I cant do this anymore. She told me to get zantac- now out of shear anxiety I cant do that anymore Chat Icon
Im really just at a loss.

My ped said the same thing. He told me before the back to sleep campaign 1 in 500 babies was dying of SIDS.

Once back to sleep went into effect the numbers went to 1 in 10,000

He said there was a study that showed kids put to sleep at daycare on their bellies(naps) also had higher incidence of SIDS even if they were on their backs at night.

Scared me and I do not put my reflux baby on his belly anymore. He sleeps in his infant to toddler rocker reclined all the way. He is also on prevacid 30 mg a dayChat Icon

ETA: I haven't researched these stats on my own so I am not saying they are accurate but everyone has to do what they are comfortable with

Re: Stomach sleepers

My DS has slept on his belly since about 5 or 6 weeks. I also have a motion monitor that does not have a lot of false alarms, and it allows us all to sleep. DS is a great sleeper, been sleeping through the night since about 9 weeks.

I started with naps & then moved on to nighttime. It was a hard decision but the right one for my kids. No toys in the crib, no blankets & tight sheets.

It's only something you can do when you're ready. Chat Icon

Same here. I did wait until they had very good head and neck control too. Chat Icon Chat Icon

My DD cant roll yet though. She dosent even really pick her head up well yet so she just terrified me.

Because of this reason I would not recommend letting her sleep on her belly. I hate that DD is sleeping on her belly now- it scares me. That said, she IS able to roll and pick her head up, so that's the only reason I am allowing her.

Only a few more weeks and she'll be rolling I'm sure- then you can rest easy.
