Re: Spinoff: when did your child get a big kid bed (no more crib)?
We converted her crib to the toddler bed with the low rail (and using the same crib mattress) around 3 years old I'd say. Maybe 3.5.
We ditched that for real furniture- twin sized bed with drawers underneath and a matching dresser and nightstand and a real mattress- at 5 years old.
Her crib also converted to a full sized bed after the toddler bed but her room is VERY small so a full size wouldn't work in there- so we went with the twin.

A few months after he turned 2. He kept climbing out.

Re: Spinoff: when did your child get a big kid bed (no more crib)?
DD HATED the crib and moved to a full size mattress on the floor at 15 months and then around 2 we added the box spring and then at 3 she was fully off the floor in a full sized bed with frame.
DS never slept in the crib and after co sleeping went into a queen sized bed with guard rails [we bought a king and didn't want a perfectly good bed to go to waste which is why he got a queen bed]

Spinoff: when did your child get a big kid bed (no more crib)?
Dd1 moved to a toddler bed at 2.5 because we needed the crib for dd2. She's now 4.5 and still comfy in the toddler bed but we're planning to move her to a twin around her 5th birthday once her new room is done.

Re: Spinoff: when did your child get a big kid bed (no more crib)?
My DS went into a toddler bed so his little sister could have the crib at 2.5. He is still in the toddler bed at almost 5 with no issues fitting comfortably. When she moves into a toddler bed he will get the crib back as it turns into a full size bed. Prob in another year or so. (when she is around 3) and he is around 6

Spinoff: when did your child get a big kid bed (no more crib)?
17 months but it isn't a "bed bed", it is a mattress on the floor with thick gym type mats underneath to keep her safe.

6. Lol! We did take a side off and "convert" it to a toddler bed... at around 4. He still would fit! There is no rush to change things. 6 was perfect because we made his bed & covers a "big boy room"
I agree with the no rush. With my DS1, we converted his crib to a toddler bed when he was just over 3 bc he could climb out and wanted a big boy bed. He wasn't the type to leave his bed so we had no issues. He stayed in a toddler bed until age 5 when we converted his toddler bed to a full size. DS2 is 3.5 and still in a crib. He climbed out once. I think about converting to a toddler bed but he still wakes up on occasion and I picture him walking himself to my room. Not sure when I'll do it.

Spinoff: when did your child get a big kid bed (no more crib)?
DD1 when she was 2 (she started giving us a hard time sleeping on her own so we thought a big girl bed might help.. it didnt)
DD2 almost 3 (started not wanting to go to sleep in her crib-- thought a big girl bed might help-- it didnt)
In other words if it aint broke dont fix it and even if it is broke it might not fix it! lol
ETA: We pretty much skipped oover the whole toddler bed scenario and went to full sized beds

Thanks everyone! I'm keeping my DS in it as long as possible. He loves his crib and sleeps great in it. I'm afraid bedtime will be a disaster when we change him to a real bed.
Same here. My daughter is almost 3 and no plans on rocking the boat!
