Re: spinoff to WHY....

Oh I know....ridiculous. I think if they cannot find a sitter, they should not go to the movies. Simple as that. When I have kids, if I do not have a sitter I will not bring my baby to the theatre. Not to mention all the germs there!

Re: spinoff to WHY....

This is exactly why DH and I have only been to the movies once since my son was born 5 months ago. I think it's inappropriate to bring babies to the movies or young children to R rated movies.

UUUGGGGHHH!!!! I completely agree with you! When I went to see the Exorcism of Emily Rose, there were a bunch of kids from 5-11 there. Screamed through the whole damned movie, and no one bothered to take them out. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: spinoff to WHY....

I have to agree, I haven't been to the movies not even once since my daughter was born for the simple fact that I had no one to leave her with so I would rather not.

Are you kidding me? So parents should not go to church until their kids are adolescents? When we go to church, we sit at the end of the pew so that if he gets fussy we can slip out and go to the foyer or the basement.

well, i htink if you bring your children to church they should most defintaly be on their best behaviour. and if they are not... leave.

of course parents should go to church, but you'll know better than anyone if the kid is going to fuss. Then you have 2 options.

1. Go at separate times, meaning, one parent goes and the other stays home with the kid

2. If that isn't possible and you both have to go to the same mass, take turns taking the kid outside when he fusses.

I am talking about these people that let the kid cry, or scream, or talk or disrupt. Most churches have rooms in the back for that purpose. It's not fair to the rest of us.

I have no idea about the babies in the movies!

I also wonder about kids in restaurants at late hours...DH & I went to dinner for my birthday and there were toddlers to young kids in the restaurant at 10.30/11.00Chat Icon

I don't mind the infants, if the parents walk them out when they cry. they don't really know whats going on.

the kids i saw were screaming in terror and the parents just yelled at them to sit down and shut the feck up. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: spinoff to WHY....

Of course they should be on their best behavior. And if they are not then that's on the parents. I grew going to church, it was the one of main things we did as a family every week. In the car, we got the "you better not show out" speech. If my brothers and I even looked like we were going to act up my mom would give us the look. That was enough for us, I pray that my son is the same.

I agree with you on everything except for point #1. That's just plain ol ridiculous when you have kids you don't have time for that.... I believe church is something you do as a family.

For people that let their kids be disruptive sometimes you just want to shake 'em (the parents not the kids) Chat Icon and say HELLOOO??? Do you hear what I hear?

agree and agree.

my old church (Don- the one you got married in, actually Chat Icon ) used to have a sound proofed room- it was glass, so you could see everything, and it had speakers in it, so that you could hear the mass, but it enabled parents to bring kids in there when they were being fussy, but not miss out on the mass- IMO, all churches should try to do something like that.

See i woldn't mind either....IF THEY DID THAT

But the parents that we have experienced hold their child thinking it will stop....and although it might briefly...the crys come again and again and again!

i hate to see babies in movie theaters..makes no sense to me.

as far as babies in church...most people like to go to church as a family, thats the whole point. and yea, when the kids cries, b/c we know it will, take it outside.

i hate it when i see kids running around in restaurants. and where are the parents?

The worst thing I EVER saw was at a Kate Spade sample sale. A woman let her toddler out of the stroller, walked away from her and started rummaging through a pile of stuff. The little girl grabbed a big plastic bag- they were everywhere, and pulled it over her head. Chat Icon Chat Icon i snatched it off and the mother never noticed. Chat Icon Chat Icon
